WHERE TO DRINK OUTDOORS IN WEST LONDON

Cortlyn Stovall finds the best outdoor bars, pub gardens and areas with a London view for you to grab a seat and make the most of the sunshine this summer

1  Bluebird Café

Bluebird Café is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the King’s Road. From the courtyard, visitors can enjoy all-day-BBQs in the warm afternoons during the summer months and drinks and nibbles under the rugs and heaters on those chillier nights. The bar is the ideal place to meet up with friends for afternoon tea or to dance the night away. The extensive and contemporary bar list and mouth-watering bar snack menu are perfect for a pre-dinner nibble. Bookings are not accepted unless you are a member of Bluebird.

2  The Phene

The Phene is a versatile establishment dating back to 1853 that caters from a casual drink after work to a private evening dinner party. No matter what the season or occasion, it has a beautiful outdoor garden to drink and relax in all-year round. Focusing on creating top quality food and drink in a unique venue in Chelsea, the fully-heated garden is the perfect urban escape. The serene atmosphere is completed with retro hanging basket chairs and snug lounge sofas gathered around outdoor fireplaces and flourishing greenery.

3  The Jam Tree

The newest addition to The Jam Tree family, the Chelsea lounge is a prime location for after-work cocktails, Friday and Saturday nightlife and Sunday lunch. With an extensive list of beverage choices including nine variations of a Bloody Mary and specialty cocktails featuring different flavours of jam, the menu has something to quench all thirsts. The back garden is a desired location for radiant sunshine. Equipped with its own outside bar and BBQ, the garden is ready for year-round enjoyment with plenty of heating and covering.

4  The Roof Gardens

There are three themed gardens that grace the surrounding area of The Roof Gardens. For immaculate cuisine, the restaurant Babylon is located high up on the seventh floor. The outside terrace offers breathtaking views of the London skyline and the luscious greenery. On Friday and Saturday nights, the glamorous rooftop club hosts events and parties to dance the night away under the stars. Whether you’re looking for an all-night party or an evening drink with friends, The Roof Gardens supply an atmosphere for all.

5  Serpentine Bar

Located conveniently in the centre of Hyde Park along the edge of the Serpentine Lake, this bar is the perfect spot for an afternoon lunch and brew. During the summer months, a pop-up burger and hotdog BBQ and the Gin Bar are ideal for weekend cookouts and after-work drinks. The park atmosphere offers superb views of the water and evergreen scenery while you relax lake-side enjoying a cold cocktail with a few of your friends.
