London Chippy Launches Deep Fried Quality Street for Christmas

Deep fried Mars Bars – love ’em or hate ’em – are most definitely a thing. But deep fried Quality Street? Well, ’tis the season…

The nation’s favourite selection box is getting an indulgent makeover courtesy of the skilled friers at Poppies Fish and Chips in Soho.

What could be better than a Toffee Finger? A deep-fried Toffee Finger – obvs – which the Poppies’ team has singled out as the best of the battered Quality Street bunch.

In fact, because everyone loves a good argument – sorry, debate – around the Christmas table, they’ve ranked the top 10 of the brightly coloured oh-just-one-more chocs as follows:

  1. Toffee Finger
  2. The Purple One
  3. Chocolate Caramel Brownie
  4. Strawberry Delight
  5. Toffee Penny
  6. Orange Crème
  7. The Green Triangle
  8. Fudge
  9. Orange Chocolate Crunch
  10. Milk Choc Block
  11. Caramel Swirl
  12. Coconut Éclair

But do you agree? Head to Poppies Soho to give them a whirl. The team will be keeping a tally of the most popular flavours, with the possibility of adding the runaway favourites to the menu permanently.

The deep fried Quality Street will be available from 1-25 December as a lucky dip selection to enjoy in house or takeaway, priced £2.50 for five (pre-orders for the full selection of Quality Street will be taken).

Take note: Poppies Soho is opening for the first time on Christmas Day itself, so if you fancy fish and chips instead of turkey, and battered chocs instead of Christmas pud, you know where to head…

Recognised as one of the best independent fish and chip restaurants in the UK, Poppies Fish & Chips began as a labour of love for master fryer Pat ‘Pop’ Newland, opening across from the world-famous Spitalfields Market in 2011 before expanding to its sister locations in Camden in 2013 and Soho in July 2016.
