Where to Celebrate Thanksgiving in London

Thanksgiving, though strictly an American tradition, is one that London has embraced with open arms in recent years. So where to head for a fabulous Thanksgiving feast? The Resident has picked out a few favorites…

1 The Jones Family Project, Shoreditch 
The Jones Family Project is hosting a Thanksgiving bash that’s sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Putting their British twist on an American Tradition, The Jones Family Project will be offering Thanksgiving favourites with a dash of extra holiday spirit. The three course meal kicks off with a Bad Apples cocktail, then Cream of Squash soup topped with truffles to start, and mains like the classic Roast Turkey Breast Steak with traditional and non-traditional Thanksgiving sides such as cornbread, sage stuffing and green beans. 2 CUT at 45 Park Lane
Acclaimed chef Wolfgang Puck has cultivated a sumptuous dining experience with divine twists on traditional classics such as Prime Beef Carpaccio with Black Truffle to start and Grilled Jumbo Prawns in Toasted Chilli Oil for the mains, as well as the classic roast turkey with all the trimmings. Make the evening even more special by upgrading to 45 Park Lane’s Wagyu Kagoshima Beef Cut for an additional £110. 3 Smith & Wollensky, Covent Garden Riverside
Pop into Smith & Wollensky for a Thanksgiving meal starting with Roast Squash and Paprika Soup or Oak Smoked Salmon, followed by meaty mains such as the 320g USDA Prime Dry-Aged Sirloin or Turkey Dinner with all of the fixings. Enjoy family-style sides for the whole table, since Thanksgiving is just as much about the sides as it is about the turkey. Round off with traditional puds like Pumpkin and Pecan Pie, Apple and Blueberry Cobbler and Chocolate and Raspberry Delice. Priced £68pp for three courses.

4 The Royal China, various locations 
The Royal China has six top-notch Chinese restaurants in London, including the critically-acclaimed Royal China Club on Baker Street and branches in Fulham, Harrow-on-the-Hill and Canary Wharf. The Royal China has put a flavourful twist on the traditional Thanksgiving meal with highlights including Creamy Sweet Corn Soup with Crabmeat, Empress Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onion and Apple in Toffee Syrup. The largely sharing-based menu is an ode to America’s tradition of sharing and conviviality at Thanksgiving.

5 Rail House Café, Victoria  
Rail House Café’s Thanksgiving dinner starts off with an Old Fashioned cocktail of Calvados and Cinnamon with Bourbon soaked Cranberries to get you into the festive spirit. The main event will feature slow roasted Norfolk Bronze Turkey cooked in herb butter served family style for sharing. A true Thanksgiving dinner isn’t complete without a cornucopia of side dishes including Cornbread, Sausage & Sultana Stuffing, Maple-Butter Roasted Potatoes, Creamed Corn Casserole and Glazed Sprouts with Smoky Bacon. Head over to The Blues Kitchen on 23 November to experience a true Deep South Thanksgiving. With locations in Brixton, Shoreditch and Camden, The Blues Kitchen doesn’t mess around when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner. As well as a live band to get you in festive spirits, you can enjoy an authentic Texan three-course dinner featuring satisfying comfort foods such as Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Twice Baked Mac and Cheese and Pumpkin Pie with Toasted Marshmallows. 7 Bread Street Kitchen, the City 
On Thanksgiving Day, Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen is serving up a decadent three-course Thanksgiving menu centered around a glorious Confit Turkey Leg with Bacon Popcorn and White Bean and Clam Bake. There’s also a sharing snack platter with Lollipop Spiced Wings, Brie Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms and sharing desserts of pumpkin pie and peanut butter parfait with doughnut sticks and hot jam. 8 Cocotte, Notting Hill 
Cocotte chicken rotisserie in Notting Hill is eschewing the traditional turkey dinner for a ‘Thankschicken’ menu with half a chicken for two, roasted Brussels sprouts and Parmesan, alongside another side dish from the à la carte menu, two sauces, two desserts and two ‘Thanksdrinking’ spritz cocktails. Priced at £50 for two people, Cocotte is perfect for a more low-key celebration. Available from 23-26 November for lunch and dinner.

9 Christopher’s, Covent Garden
Modern American restaurant Christopher’s in Covent Garden is the perfect spot to celebrate Thanksgiving. Head Chef Francis Agyepong has cultivated the perfect festive menu featuring Caramelised Orkney Scallops with Maple-roasted Parsnip Cream and traditional favourites like Slow-cooked Ballotine of Organic Turkey with Cornbread, Hazelnut & Michigan Cherry Stuffing, Cranberry Relish, Buttered Beans & Creamed Potatoes. Jackson + Rye brings classic American flavours to London, so of course they’re on board for Thanksgiving! The venues, based in Soho, Kingston, Chiswick, Richmond and Bank, will be offering a mouth-watering three-course Thanksgiving menu of succulent Boned and Rolled Turkey, Roasted Squash Risotto, Pumpkin Pie and Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Fudge Pie, all for £29.95. Available 23-26 November from 5pm.

Executive Chef Russell Ford has cultivated a Thanksgiving menu full of festive favorites. Start the evening with an American Spice cocktail, made with Makers Mark Bourbon, then choose from the likes of New England Clam Chowder, Roasted Caldecott Farm Bronze Turkey, Baked Mac and Cheese and dessert favorites like New York Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie and Pecan Pie. Priced £30 for two courses and £40 for three courses.

13 The Goring, Westminster
Head over to London’s last family owned and run luxury hotel for a night of Thanksgiving decadence. The Goring has pulled out all the stops this year with a six-course Thanksgiving feast starting with a dish of cauliflower cream with native lobster, bacon and chives, followed by a crab salad with rye bread and smoked crème fraiche, and a cured organic salmon with green pepper relish, deep-fried oyster and oyster vinaigrette. The pièce de résistance is, of course, the traditional Turkey, and then for dessert there’s a carmelised pear and walnut cheesecake followed by a selection of British cheeses. Priced at £99pp.

14 Sea Containers at Mondrian London, South Bank
Sea Containers is utilising fresh British ingredients to whip up American classics like Baked Pumpkin with Braised Turkey Leg and Turkey with Butternut Squash, Cranberry and Pine Nut Stuffing. For dessert, 2010 Bake Off winner Edd Kimber has crafted a classic Pumpkin Pie with a whisky pastry, rich spiced pumpkin filling, pecan crumble and a dollop of maple cream. Opt for one of Sea Containers’ legendary cocktails, too, such as the seasonal Bracer Up, made with Reserve Double Oaked Aloneside Pecan-infused Angostura Bitters, Martini Rubino, Fernet and Campari. Available from 20-26 November.

15 Cut + Grind

Head over to Amaya on 23 November for a decadent 5 course Indian Thanksgiving feast. Start with favourites like King Scallop and the Tandoori Foie Gras. Move onto the main event with the Tandoori Guinea Fowl or Grilled Duck Breast with caramelized brussel sprouts and sweet potato. The delicious twist on the typical feast is perfect for those wishing to switch it up this year and still have a lot of their favourite Thanksgiving flavours. Amaya’s Thanksgiving feast is priced at £65 for dinner and £95 for dinner and wine.

17 Bunga Bunga
Pop into Bunga Bunga for an Italian American twist on Thanksgiving this year. Their delicious food paired with their American themed setting makes Bunga Bunga as authentic as it gets. The four course meal includes favourites like Turkey Breast Milanese and Slow Cooked Bunga Ribs served with a Jack Daniels Honey sauce. And of course it wouldn’t be a Bunga Bunga meal without their special Thanksgiving pizza topped with fior di latte mozzarella, roasted turkey, Jack Daniels BBQ glaze, caramelized red onion and pancetta.
