As National Chocolate Week returns to celebrate all things cacao from 15-21 October 2018, The Resident picks out 10 of the best ways for chocoholics to indulge in London

1 Paul A Young and Adam Handling’s Chocolate Week Tasting Menu, Covent Garden
Multi-award winning chef Adam Handling and master chocolatier Paul A Young are collaborating to offer the ultimate chocolate tasting menu throughout National Chocolate Week. The menu consists of five deliciously decadent courses, all incorporating chocolate of course, where guests can enjoy highlights such as Pigeon with Last Summer’s Cherries and Acidulated Chocolate, as well as Brandade Tortellini with Pickled Leek and Liver. For those looking for a truly indulgent experience, there is also an optional wine pairing menu to go alongside the tasting menu, each of which has been chosen to complement the chocolate flavours used in each dish. The tasting menu is priced at £70.

2 Chocolate Ecstasy Tours, various locations
For those looking to truly immerse themselves in the world of chocolate, Jennifer Earle’s Chocolate Ecstasy Tours will hit the spot. Jennifer is one of the UK’s leading chocolate experts as well as being a judge for the Great Taste Awards, the International Chocolate Awards and the Academy of Chocolate Awards. The tours combine local history, tasting and storytelling, as chocolate connoisseurs can stroll throughout London’s most significant chocolate spots – including Chelsea, Mayfair, Soho and Covent Garden – and journey through its evolution.

3 The Wolseley x Canton Tea’s Chocolate Afternoon Tea
The Wolseley’s new Chocolate Afternoon Tea combines the savoury elements of a traditional afternoon tea with the sweet notes of white, milk and dark chocolate. Alongside traditional finger sandwich offerings, there are new additions like the roast beef with pumpernickel and cocoa bread, plus a white chocolate cream. Sultana scones are served warm with strawberry jam, then comes an assortment of pastries, including a dark chocolate and raspberry éclair, a milk chocolate orange tart and a white chocolate and passion fruit delice. You can also enjoy a choice of Canton Tea’s finest, including their Chocolate Tea, a blend of loose leaf Assam and Yunnan, Peruvian cocoa nibs and Madagascan vanilla. Priced £29.75pp.

4 Galvin’s Valrhona Desserts
Michelin-starred Galvin brothers are collaborating with French premium chocolatier Valrhona once again with another decadent National Chocolate Week dessert menu. Galvin La Chapelle will be serving a Manjari Valrhona chocolate with passion fruit ganache, banana and yoghurt ice cream and coconut tuille; Galvin at Windows is offering a Biskelia Valrhona chocolate mousse with sesame crunch and coffee ice cream; and at Galvin HOP you can devour an Alpaco Valrhona chocolate bar with dulce du leche and honeycomb. Plus, Galvin at The Athenaeum is going all out with a Valrhona Chocolate Afternoon Tea!

5 Chocolate Burger at Paternoster Chop House
Serious chocaholics only need apply… Paternoster Chop House has crafted a chocolate burger bonanza, consisting of a chocolate ice cream patty, sandwiched between two choux buns topped with orange icing cheese, white chocolate onion rings, vanilla Chantilly cream mayonnaise, confit orange tomatoes and finished with Raspberry sauce ketchup. The Chocolate Burger is priced £11 and is available throughout National Chocolate Week.

6 William Curley Menu and Masterclass at The Sanderson
The Sanderson is collaborating with chocolatier William Curley to create a bespoke chocolate-infused four-course menu with dishes such as Denham Estate Venison, miso-glazed parsnips, cranberry gel, sprout tops and 100% cocoa. Chocolate enthusiasts can also take part in A Masterclass in Chocolate with William Curley on 17 October for an insight into the wonderful world of chocolate from bean to bar. You’ll make two types of truffle during the evening, leaving with your own homemade truffles and full recipes from the day, along a branded apron. Priced £80 (book here). The tasting menu is available from 8-21 October for £65.

7 Canopy Market Chocolate Special, King’s Cross
Canopy Market is collaborating with Cocoa Runners, which champions artisan bean-to-bar makers the world over, to host a specially curated chocolate market from 19-21 October. Full to the brim with chocolatiers, educational talks and tastings and chocolate of the finest quality, you’ll be able to sample rare, single-origin chocolates and meet the makers from a line-up including the award-winning Pump Street Bakery, who hand make small-batch chocolate in Orford, as well as Franceschi Chocolate from Caracas, Venezuela. 8 Chocolate Sushi at YO! Sushi Selfridges
Luxury chocolatier Choc on Choc is launching the UK’s first handmade sushi maki rolls made entirely from chocolate. The maki rolls will be available for a limited time exclusively at YO! Sushi Selfridges in London, Manchester and Birmingham. Grab the special four piece sushi set of Chocolate Maki Rolls set from the famous ‘kaiten sushi’ conveyor belt throughout National Chocolate Week. White chocolate replicates the sushi rice in each maki roll and each roll has a delicious dark chocolate centre, handmade with the finest Belgian chocolate. £3.80.

9 Chocolate Calzonification at Pizza Pilgrims, Shoreditch
Pizza Pilgrims dessert offering is enough to send any chocoholics dough-eyed. And the best bit? You can incorporate your own favourite chocolate bar! Simply take along your favourite chocolate indulge and let the team ‘calzonify’ it – i.e. smother it in dough and bake it to perfection. 10 The Chocolate Museum, Brixton
Visit Brixton’s immersive Chocolate Museum for delights such as interactive tasting trails, chocolate making sessions, workshops and chocolate games. Get cocoa-cultured with their Chocotale Trail, which takes you on a journey through the history of the humble bean, from the Mayans all the way through to present day. Entry to the museum is free, with prices for workshops and sessions varying.
