1 Sunday Lunch at The Palmerston, East Dulwich
The Palmerston in East Dulwich is under threat. Its lease is up on 3 June and may not be renewed, so this might be one of you last chances to treat mum to one of their glorious Sunday lunches. Enjoy the likes of Gin Cured Salmon, House Pickles, Crème Fraiche and Watercress, and faultless roasts such as the rump of 35-day aged Galloway beef, served pink, with a Yorkshire pudding the side of your head. Or go for the maple-roasted turnips with freekah, baby onions and tenderstem broccoli, or Cornish mussels with leeks, garlic, cider and parsley with fries. Even the veg are delicious – garlicky green beans, carrots with crunch, parsnips and spuds that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Served 12pm-3.30pm.

3 Fish Feast at Next Door by Moxon’s, East Dulwich
Robin Moxon’s critically acclaimed MOXON’S, the neighbourhood fishmongers with locations in Clapham (where it started), East Dulwich, South Kensington and Islington, launched Next Door in East Dulwich last spring. If you haven’t got around to trying it out yet, now’s the time… A great spot for a relaxed catch up with mum, the menu features a number of small plates such as Whitstable Rock Oysters, Tuna Tataki with Bok Choy, Grilled Rye King Scallops, Cornish Crab Risotto and Cod Chop Cassarole. Large plates include the daily special roasted fish to share with beurre blanc sauce. It’s a fish lover’s dream.

Treat mum to breakfast or brunch pre-noon – green shakshouka with kale, rose harissa, eggs, chickpeas, tomatoes and green peppers, or avo smash with lemon pumpkin seeds, chilli, St Johns toast and poached egg, or the massive Pedler take on the Full English – or go for the Sunday roast post-noon. Embrace the likes of Surrey Farm’s bangin’ beef rump with whipped horseradish, Yorkshire organic lamb saddle with balsamic mint or charred hispi cabbage with stilton, sour onions and nut praline, served with roasties, roots, braised cabbage, greens, gravy and yorkies.
