Lockdown is over, London is in Tier 2 and it’s time to dip a Covid-secure toe into the festivities with the return of one of London’s most anticipated winter pop ups…

The Ski Lodge at The Montague On The Gardens, decked out with pine trees, falling snow, reindeer, snowmen, ski racks, piste maps and pretty fairy lights, is one of London’s top spots for a festive gathering.
Not only was it London’s first ski lodge-style pop up bar, originally launched in 2011, it even won the Bronze award for Best Christmas Party Venue in The London Venue Awards 2019.
And what’s a ski lodge without a little aprés-ski frivolity? Precisely. So you’ll be pleased to know that the bar serves a selection of Schnapps and flavoured vodkas, alongside other winter favourites.
Returning on 3 December 2020, the alfresco pop up, located in the hotel’s courtyard, is covered and heated, with mulled wine, hot spiced cider, hot chocolate cocktails and big woolly rugs to help keep the chill at bay.
With London moving from lockdown into Tier 2, it’s the ideal spot to meet up with friends in groups of up to six, as per the latest government guidance. Plus it’s open right up until Valentine’s Day 2021, in case you were planning a romantic date or – assuming larger groups will be allowed to gather by then – an aprés ski-themed ‘palatines’ celebration.
‘Do they serve substantial meals? You betcha’
Do they serve substantial meals? You betcha, with Alpine platters featuring the likes of mini bratwurst, turkey schnitzel and deep-fried Camembert – ideal for sharing as you indulge in festive mulls and Schnapps.
Ski Passes are available from Monday to Sunday priced £38 per person and including an Alpine platter, your choice of three seasonal drinks from the Alpine Bar and access to The Ski Lodge for 90 minutes (booking slots are available for 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm, plus 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays).
