Three London restaurants have been awarded three AA Rosettes, given to establishments achieving standards that demand national recognition.
Those awarded four AA Rosettes are among the top restaurants in the country, although none in London received the accolade this time around.
There were no new additions to the five Rosette club across the whole of the UK and Ireland.
London’s new AA Rosette restaurants
The London restaurants awarded three AA Rosettes were No.5 Social, Jason Atherton’s latest opening, Siren at The Goring, and Wild Honey St James, situated within the Sofitel London St James hotel.
Notably, Atherton was named Chef’s Chef of the Year at last year’s AA Hospitality Awards, as voted by his culinary peers, and his Pollen Street Social restaurant holds five AA Rosettes, while City Social and Social Eating House both hold three.

No.5 Social in Mayfair is a warm, relaxed venue with an unstuffy vibe – ideal for experiencing Atherton’s trademark modern European dishes. Top dishes include the Orkney scallop on avocado mousse to start, and the Josper-grilled Ibérico pork chop as a main.
Siren the elegant seafood restaurant by Nathan Outlaw at The Goring hotel in Belgravia, is a beautiful spot for summer, with bi-fold doors opening out into a secluded garden. Under the direction of head chef Andrew Sawyer, top dishes include risotto of Cornish crab and whole mackerel with crispy oysters.
At Wild Honey St James, which moved from Mayfair to the Sofitel London St James in 2019, offers an airy, high-ceilinged dining room with an impressive lighting installation. Contemporary French-influenced seasonal cooking offers up delicious dishes such as roast heritage beetroot, rich black pudding purée and cured wild boar cheek, and Welsh lamb with roast salsify, fresh sheep’s ricotta and Italian greens.
New four AA Rosette restaurants
The newly crowned four AA Rosette restaurants were Alchemilla in Nottingham and The Lady Helen Restaurant in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, while a further eleven have been awarded three AA Rosettes. No restaurants were awarded the top accolade of five AA Rosettes this time round.
In fact, there are only 17 five AA Rosette restaurants in the UK and Ireland – seven of which are in London.
They are Hélène Darroze at The Connaught (two Michelin stars), Sketch (Lecture Room & Library, which has three Michelin stars), Marcus (one Michelin star), the aforementioned Pollen Street Social (one Michelin star), Restaurant Story (one Michelin star), Claude Bosi at Bibendum (two Michelin stars) and Core by Clare Smyth (two Michelin stars).
‘Congratulations to these establishments and their staff, who demonstrate the variety and high quality of dining experiences offered across the UK and Ireland.’
The AA has awarded Rosettes to restaurants since 1956, with the top award of five Rosettes introduced in 1991. The multi rosettes are awarded bi-annually in January and September, with success determined by one or more visits by an AA inspector to a hotel or restaurant.
