The Resident’s pick of London’s best Christmas menus, from festive specials available throughout December to indulgent Christmas Day menus available at some of London’s best restaurants and hotels

1 Julie’s Restaurant, Notting Hill
A new Festive Set Lunch Menu will be available throughout December at the legendary Julie’s Restaurant, but the biggest news here is that, for the first time in its 51-year history, Julie’s will open on Christmas Day. Chef Patron Shay Cooper has developed a five-course festive set menu for Christmas Day, starting with glass of Champagne and canapes and featuring dishes such as Cotswold duck consommé, smoked chicken and mushroom ravioli, a salad of winter vegetables with butter poached lobster, langoustine tartare, shellfish vinaigrette, traditional roast turkey and a Manjari chocolate yule with crème brûlée ice cream (priced £145). The Festive Set Lunch Menu, available December from Tuesday to Saturday, is priced £26 for two courses or £32 for three. Plus, Julie’s has a heated alfresco terrace, for those looking to keep things as Covid-secure as possible this Christmas.

2 The Curry Room & The English Grill at The Rubens at The Palace, Westminster
Opt for a slightly different approach to Christmas dinner at the beautifully decorated Curry Room at The Rubens at The Palace. The restaurant, which holds an AA Rosette, celebrates authentic flavours made with the finest ingredients and exclusively imported spices from India, and its open on Christmas Day. The five-course Christmas Day Festive Curry Room Dinner, priced £75pp, offers mains like Delhi-Wala Chicken, Lamb Kofta Curry and Samundar Ka Raja (lobster with South Indian spices), and includes a sorbet course, coffee and petits fours. For something more traditional, The English Grill at The Rubens at The Palace is serving a festive menu throughout December, featuring main courses like free-range Bronze Black Leg Turkey, slow-cooked short rib and herb-crusted cod (£37.50pp for two courses or £42.50 for three courses). The restaurant is also open on Christmas Day, serving up a seven-course festive feast with the likes of Cauliflower Cappuccino, Orkney King Scallops or Wild Mushroom Tart and mains like traditional Black Leg turkey, Scottish Beef Fillet or The English Grill Famous Dover Sole (£185pp or £92 for kids aged 2-12).

3 The Lighterman, King’s Cross
The Lighterman is offering a three-course Christmas set menu, priced £50pp, with a glass of English sparkling wine on arrival. Dishes include Jerusalem artichoke and chestnut soup, potted Old Spot pork, roast free-range Norfolk Bronze turkey with pork stuffing and cranberry sauce, seared Scottish fallow venison and Atlantic line-caught cod, as well as desserts such as Christmas pudding with brandy custard and clementine and dark chocolate brownie with nutmeg ice cream. Available from 2-24 December. The restaurant is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening for Twixtmas on 27 December. There’s also a New Year’s Eve menu priced £75pp.

4 The Montague on the Gardens, Bloomsbury 
The Montague Ski Lodge is the place to head for a festive catch up with friends this Christmas. For £38pp you can enjoy three festive drinks (mulled wine, hot spiced cider and flavoured vodkas) and an Alpine platter of bratwurst, deep-fried camembert and turkey schnitzel in the Lapland-esque alfresco pop-up.  For something more formal, try the three-course Christmas Day Lunch menu, featuring traditional maple-roasted Norfolk turkey with chestnut stuffing, as well as a glass of Burmester vintage port or Scotch whisky and coffee, mince pies and petits fours (£135pp, click here to book). 5 The InterContinental London – the O2, Greenwich Peninsula
Market Brasserie at The InterContinental London – the O2 is offering a festive menu daily throughout December priced £35 for two courses or £48 for three courses. Dishes include duck terrine, roast loin of venison and roast turkey roulade. Perfect for an end of year celebration with your team, or treating someone special. On Christmas Day, the restaurant is offering a three-course set menu including a selection of festive starters served on a tiered stand, before moving into main courses including traditional slow-cooked turkey roulade, stuffed with apricots and chestnuts, Welsh roasted rack of lamb, pan-seared loin of cod or potato gnocchi stuffed with mozzarella and pesto. Priced £75pp with a glass of prosecco and available for lunch (12.30pm-2.30pm) or dinner (6pm-7.30pm).

6 Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, various locations
Gordon Ramsay restaurants are offering festive menus throughout December, as well as a Christmas Day set menu. You can head into town to dine at iconic venues such as The Savoy Grill on the Strand, the Michelin-star Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay in Knightsbridge, Bread Street Kitchen in St Paul’s or Heddon Street Kitchen off Regent’s Street. Or you can keep things a little closer to home with  venues like London House in Battersea, maze Grill Park Walk in Chelsea, The Narrow in Limehouse or York & Albany in Camden. At London House , the festive set menu is priced £25 for two courses or three courses for £30, featuring the likes or roast pumpkin soup, roast turkey and sticky toffee pudding. At Petrus, the festive lunch menu is £55 for three courses, featuring the likes of organic spelt ragout with wild mushroom and smoked cheddar velouté and confit Scottish salmon.

7 The Chesterfield, Mayfair
The Chesterfield in Mayfair is offering an exquisite seven-course dinner for Christmas Day. Served in Butlers Restaurant, the menu, created by the talented Executive Chef Nathan Hindmarsh, starts with canapes, soups and starters, before traditional mains including roast Black Leg turkey with goose-fat potatoes and pistachio and apricot stuffing. A palate cleanser will be served before desserts like Christmas pudding, lemon tart or British chesses, followed by petit fours, tea, coffee, mince pies, truffles and macarons. £145pp or £72.50 for kids aged 2-12 years old. 8 The Stratford, Stratford
The Stratford is bringing Christmas cheer to east London with an Alpine lodge, live music, Christmas cocktails and festive dining. Allegra, The Stratford’s 7th floor destination restaurant, will be serving a four-course festive set menu for £75 per person including a welcome drink, and you can opt to dine either inside or outside on the heated terrace, complete with views across the London skyline. On Christmas Day itself, The Stratford Brasserie will be offering four courses plus mini mince pies and a glass of champagne on arrival, and roast turkey with all the trimmings for £75pp. Plus, stay in one of the hotel’s medium rooms and enjoy £100 credit to use anywhere in the hotel, whether that’s room service, brunch in The Brasserie, cocktails in The Mezzanine, dinner in Allegra or even drinks from the mini bar.

9 Cheneston’s Restaurant at The Milestone Hotel and Residences, Kensington
Throughout December, you can enjoy a private dining experience in The Oratory – one of London’s most romantic venues – or the beautifully decorated Windsor Suite. Choose from a two, three or four-course menu, complete with decoration and crackers (enquire for availability). The restaurant is also hosting a Christmas Eve Dinner opening with a carol singing performance before a five-course dinner (from 6pm, private rooms are available on request, from £160pp or £80 for under 12s). On Christmas Day itself, you can enjoy a five-course menu including the traditional roast turkey and trimmings, champagne and gifts under the tree (12.30pm-6pm, £249pp or £124.50 for under 12s). Cheneston’s Restaurant is also hosting an exclusive Art of Bond Dining Experience on 21 December. Inspired by the most famous of Secret Agents, the one-of-a-kind Bond five-course menu features dishes that tell a tale from a Fleming novel, hosted by Bond and food critic Richard Bagnold (£150pp).

10 Cannizaro House by Hotel du Vin, Wimbledon
Hotel du Vin has created a number of festive menus, including a Festive Celebrations menu, available through December until Christmas Eve, a Festive Sunday Lunch, and a Christmas Day menu. The four-course Festive Celebrations menu is available Sunday to Wednesday from £34.95 per person and Thursday to Saturday from £39.95 per person, while the Festive Sunday Lunch is £34.95pp and the five-course Christmas Day menu is £125 including a glass of Champagne (£62.50 for children aged 5-12 years). Dishes for the big day include roasted free-range turkey with traditional trimmings, beef Wellington, baked monkfish and harissa, kale, feta and butternut squash strudel. There are even dine-and-stay packages from £445.

11 The Cinnamon Collection, various locations
Enjoy a bountiful Christmas Day banquet in the elegant surroundings of chef Vivek Singh’s The Cinnamon Club’s exquisite Old Westminster Library for £125 per person. The four-course menu includes a sparkling cocktail on arrival, deliciously spiced dishes like Keralan-style lobster soup and goose breast with Chettinad Kuruma sauce, along with a selection of side dishes, Vivek’s’ signature Garam Masala Christmas pudding with cinnamon custard and petite fours to round off the experience. For a more relaxed atmosphere, restaurants across The Cinnamon Collection will also be open for Christmas Day dining, including Cinnamon Bazaar in Covent Garden (five courses for £65pp) and Cinnamon Kitchen in the City (four courses for £60pp) and Battersea (four courses for £50pp).

Riding House Café Fitzrovia and Rail House Café in Victoria both have extensive, heated outdoor areas – handy for these turbulent times. Open throughout the Christmas period, the Christmas Set Menus, priced £45pp for three courses, feature sharing dishes for the table like artichoke dip with flame-grilled sourdough and salt & sugar-cured salmon to start, followed by mains like truffled Portobello and sweet potato Wellington and roast turkey with apple and raisin stuffing and pigs in blankets, as well as desserts like sticky toffee pudding and banoffee mess. You can also upgrade to add a festive cheese board for the table for an additional £6pp, and mince pies and coffee for another £6pp. Both restaurants are also open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

13 Six by Nico London, Fitzrovia
Six by Nico London will serve up the magic of the season with a twist and a nostalgic trip down memory lane reminiscent. The six-course ‘Miracle On’ Christmas themed tasting menu includes innovative dishes such as Memories of a Christmas Market, Partridge in a Pear Tree, Who Hate’s Brussel Sprouts?, Smoked Salmon Blinis and Bob Cratchit’s Three Bird Roast. To finish, you’ll be treated to Six by Nico’s stunning Christmas dessert, a Buche De Noel (Yuletide Log) with spiced raisin cake, dulce de leche mousseline, sour cherry and white chocolate Aero. Available from Thursday 3 December until Sunday 10 January 2021 (closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day) priced from £35pp with the option to enjoy an expertly selected wine pairing for an additional £33pp. A vegetarian menu is also available.

14 No. Fifty Cheyne in Chelsea
Celebrate Christmas in style at No. Fifty Cheyne with Iain Smith’s winter à la carte menu. Available everyday from 2 December, the brand new menu is available in either the stunning dining room or in any three of the private dining spaces. Seasonal favourites include roast scallops with shallot purée, cèpe and bacon jam ragout with Champagne sauce to start, roast turkey with redcurrant glazed cabbage, maple bacon, crushed Brussel sprouts, confit potato and sauternes sauce, and classic desserts including a mandarin and cranberry Eton mess. Open on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

15 The Spread Eagle, Hackney
The Spread Eagle, London’s first 100% vegan pub, has a brand new Christmas menu devised by Head Chef Gina Hopkins. Drawing on classic Christmas dishes and inventive new creations, the dishes are made with largely locally sourced produce and ingredients from artisan, sustainable suppliers. The Spread Eagle Festive Menu is two courses for £20 or three courses, with a glass of Prosecco, for £30. The menu comprises ‘little plates’ like truffled celeriac soup with toasted seeds and chervil and deep fried ‘Shamembert’ with cranberry and port chutney; ‘big plates’ like TSE nut roast or beet Wellington, and salsify and shallot tart with raw sprouts and clementine salad. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding and festive trifle. You can also opt for a vegan cheese board for a £4 supplement. Available throughout December.

16 Rüya, Mayfair
Rüya is celebrating the Christmas season in Anatolian style. The Deluxe Festive Menu (£70pp) includes 12 dishes like Mantarli Keskek (barley risotto with wild mushrooms, truffle & sage), Lamb Shank Clay Pot (slow cooked with baby onions & home-made red pepper paste), and Firin Sütlaç (traditional Anatolian rice pudding with raspberries, rose ice cream and lokum). The Festive Menu (£60pp) includes 10 dishes, like Rib-Eye Steak and Çig Köfte (beef tartare with bulgar & baby gem), all designed for sharing. Plus, book on a Sunday and receive a complimentary glass of champagne when quoting ‘festive’.

Fishmongers and restaurant FishWorks is offering a Three Fish Roast for Christmas this year. Perfect for pescatarians and revolutionaries, the dish offers a playful riff on the traditional three bird roast. A perfect sharing centrepiece, the dish features the freshest fish all responsibly sourced from Devon and Cornwall’s markets and day boats, with a whole wild seabass surrounding a flaky monkfish middle layer and umami-rich fresh anchovy in the middle. Serves a minimum of four people with a selection of sides for £35pp. This Yule-time special is available now until 24 December across all three FishWorks restaurants, and can also be ordered for collection and home cookery for £82.

18 Nutbourne, Battersea
Nutbourne’s five-course Christmas set menu is priced £42pp for lunch or £48pp for dinner. The menu commences with mouthfuls like mushroom Marmite eclairs and confit pork fritter, before small plates to share of torched squash carpaccio, hand-dived scallops and pork and lardo farmhouse terrine. Main course options include crab thermidor and guineafowl saltimbocca or, for a £20 supplement, a Sussex beef Wellington for two. Desserts include hazelnut praline chocolate torte, honeycomb crunchie and a rather special sounding mince pie Jammy Dodger. Available throughout December (closed 24, 25 and 26 December).

19 The Tramshed Project, Shoreditch
The Tramshed Project is inviting guests to get into the Christmas spirit with a mouth-watering festive menu from renowned chef Andrew Clarke. Having already received rave reviews for his smoked and flame-grilled menu, Clarke has worked his magic once again to create three-course menus starting from £35pp. Dishes include Game Terrine with Poached Quince, Dandelion and Pickled Pistachio; Roast Duck with Jerusalem Artichoke, Braised Radicchio and Chestnut; and Salt Caramel Tart with Cultured Cream, Rose and Cocoa Nibs. For larger groups, a delectable feasting menu is also available, with options including Slow-Roast Shoulder of Lamb or a Vegan Pithivier. The Tramshed Project is also hosting a Christmas Party on Saturday 19 December, serving up special dishes, music and entertainment.

Throughout December, London Shell Co. will be welcoming guests aboard The Prince Regent and The Grand Duchess with new Christmas menus focusing on British produce and supreme seafood. The Prince Regent will offer cruising lunches and dinners (2-20 Dec and 1-2 Jan), with superb views along the Regent’s Canal on a two-and-a-half-hour cruise. The five-course festive meal, priced £65pp, will feature the likes of Fish & Chips, Potted Mussels, Poached Plaice, Trout & Prawn en Croute and Bread ‘n’ Butter Pudding. Permanently moored at Paddington Basin, The Grand Duchess will offer a festive feasting menu (2-23 & 29 Dec and 2 Jan) priced £50pp including the likes of Fish ‘n’ Chips, Lambton & Jackson Smoked Salmon, Whole Plaice with Pigs in Blankets and Duck Fat Roast Potatoes, and Yule Log with Mince Pie Ice Cream.

21 Franklin’s, East Dulwich
Franklin’s, the Lordship Lane stalwart that recently turned 21, is back open and ready for the festivities with a Christmas menu priced at a very reasonable £35.50pp. Choose from starters of Leeks, vinaigrette & Berkswell, smoked duck breast and celeriac remoulade, confit lamb terrine and pickled carrots, or cured salmon with cucumber, radish, frisee and sweet mustard; followed by mains of butternut squash with white beans, red onions, cherry vine tomatoes and Ogleshield, sea bass with chicory, samphire and saffron mayonnaise, pork belly with chickpeas, garlic, lemon and green sauce, or Red Leg partridge with Jerusalem artichoke, Savoy cabbage and bacon. For dessert, there’s gingerbread ice cream, baked quince pudding with custard, chocolate, cranberry and shortbread pot, or cheese and biscuits. You can also start with a Christmas Fizz cocktail for £9.75.

22 Sea Containers Restaurant, South Bank
Throughout December, Sea Containers Restaurant is offering a Festive Sharing menu either indoors or on the restaurants terrace. Priced £45pp, the menu is full of delicious dishes such as Loch Duart salmon tartare with black garlic mayonnaise, roasted beetroot homemade ricotta with walnuts, and orecchiette winter truffle with mushroom sauce. The Christmas Day set menu (£115pp) includes dishes such as roasted Norfolk turkey served with pork stuffing and cranberry sauce or fermented barley with burnt roscoff onions, chive and borage flowers, as well as apple pie and cinnamon ice cream, plus a glass of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Champagne. You can also opt to stay with the Bundle Up offer, complete with special festive add-ons such as the Festive Spirited Tea at Lyaness (£45), wine and mince pies (£30) or a Bodega Rita’s festive sandwich (£10).

23 AKIRA at Japan House London, Kensington
AKIRA Restaurant at Japan House London is offering a five-course Christmas menu. Named after Chef Shimizu Akira, the restaurant presents a Japanese dining experience based on Akira’s ‘trinity of cooking’ principles – food, tableware and presentation. The menu kicks off with a bespoke festive cocktail and a first appetiser of seared Wagyu sirloin and sea urchin served with yuzu flavour rice, natural salt and wasabi, followed by a second appetiser of soy-marinated salmon served with truffle and matured cheese, and then a seasonal sashimi box. For the main course, there are assorted charcoal-grilled skewers, Akira chirashi-sushi and miso soup, followed by a matcha roll cake for dessert. Available 14-24 December for lunch and dinner priced £100pp (closed on 25 December).

24 Daphne’s, South Kensington
Daphne’s, famous for its authentic Italian dishes, is decked out with a festive vine tree full of 1950s vintage, hand-painted decorations, offering a subtle nod to Italy. The local favourite is offering a Christmas cocktail in partnership with Malfy Gin, as well as festive dishes such as veal tartare Piemontese with white truffle (£32.50), tagliatelle with white truffle (£37.50), and traditional desserts such as Zabaione with toasted panettone (£7.50) and hazelnut crunch bar with white chocolate ice cream (£9).

25 Hare & Billet, Blackheath
Blackheath’s best gastropub is offering a two-course menu for £28pp or three courses for £31pp. Choose from crispy duck with oakleaf lettuce, plums and candied hazelnuts, smoked chicken and Parma ham terrine with mulled cranberry chutney and toast, and grilled king scallop with tiger prawn; mains like stuffed shoulder of lamb with chestnut, red wine and cavolo nero, roast turkey with pigs in blankets, pork and sage stuffing and duck fat roast potatoes, or vegan Wellington. For dessert, choose from triple chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream, Christmas pudding with brandy butter, morello cherry tart with coconut ice cream or cheese and biscuits. Add a glass of prosecco for £3. There’s also a five-course Christmas Day menu £76pp.
