London Restaurants Open on Christmas Day

1 Hotel Café Royal, Soho
Laurent at Café Royal, the new grill and sushi bar by internationally renowned chef Laurent Tourondel, is offering a three-course menu for £140 per adult and £65 per child this Christmas Day. Start with cheese sable, fig jam and shaved Beauvale blue alongside a glass of Ruinart Champagne, before starters of either Baby Kale Salad with Seared Blue Lobster & Foie-Gras; Gin Cured Salmon & Golden Ocetra Caviar; Local Baby Greens with Keens Cheddar; and White Mushroom Veloute with Truffle Sabayon. For the main course, choose from Roasted Heritage Turkey, Grilled Beef Tenderloin; Crusted Halibut & Citrus-Capers Brown Butter; or Wild Mushroom Arborio Risotto with Black Winter Truffles. Round off with Truffle Brillat Savarin; Mandarin-Pistachio Baked Alaska Christmas Pudding & Confit Kumquat; or Milk Chocolate Tart & Chocolate Cappuccino. Sittings take place at from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus are available upon request.

2 Duck and Waffle, the City
Duck and Waffle is opening its doors from 11.30am to 5pm on Christmas Day to serve up a festive feast for £85pp. The set menu starts with bacon wrapped dates and roast parsnip and truffle soup, before moving on to hay & rosemary roasted leg of lamb with turnip, green sauce and pomme purée. Then there’s an X-Mas Bauble (Christmas sponge pudding, spiced ice cream and hot brandy sauce) and, finally, coffee and mince pies. You can also throw in a cheese selection with homemade oat biscuits, a fig & almond wheel and seasonal fruit for an additional £10. The vegetarian menu offers alternatives of crispy polenta with parmesan & truffle for the appetiser, and Jerusalem artichoke ravioli with caramelized cauliflower and brown butter crumble for the main. 3 Rosewood London, Holborn
The Rosewood is offering two Christmas Day dining options this year, both with good vegetarian options. At the Holborn Dining Room, you’ll start with the likes of potted foie gras, baked lobster thermidor tart or wild smoked salmon with Devon crab and spiced avocado. Classic mains include the roast Norfolk bronze turkey with all the trimmings, wild sea bass and 35-day dry aged ribeye ‘club cut’. For dessert, choose from the likes of spiced custard tart with eggnog ice cream, Valrhona chocolate fondant and mandarin cheesecake with burnt meringue. Round off with coffee and mince pies. £145pp. Over in the Mirror Room, starters include seared Scottish scallops, and game terrine, followed by cream of pumpkin soup. The mains include organic roast Norfolk turkey and seared black cod fillet, as well as a roasted cauliflower with arborio risotto and truffle. For dessert, choose form Christmas pudding with Cognac custard or a Black Forest bauble. £195pp.

4 Tozi, Victoria
Head to Tozi in Victoria for a Venetian-Italian themed Christmas dinner. Specialising in small plates created for sharing, Tozi’s Christmas Day menu puts a fun twist on the traditional Christmas meal. The set menu, priced £68pp, features small dishes such as red mullet, squid and samphire fritto; wild chicory, chard and Gorgonzola tart; and buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffle. Impressive main courses include chargrilled seabass with lentils, parsnip crisps and salsa verde, or roasted guinea fowl with chestnuts, shallots and potatoes. For dessert, choose from warm panettone with mascarpone cream, robiola rocchetta and a sorbet selection.

5 Lanes of London, Mayfair
Lanes of London, located in Mayfair, is offering a Christmas Day menu for £85pp. Starters include goat’s cheese with port, fig and honey; smoked salmon roulade with crème fraîche and apple; and a chicory tart. For the mains, choose from a turkey ballantine with all the trimmings, seared hallibut or a vegetable wellington. And for dessert? Bring us some figgy pudding! Preferably with pain d’épices ice cream. Or enjoy a clementine trifle or a whiskey and chocolate cremeux. Then there’s mince pies with tea or coffee, and you can add in a cheese board for an additional £8 if you so please.

6 Hunter 486 The Arch London, Marble Arch
The Arch London’s restaurant, Hunter 486, is serving a thoughtfully festive and traditional six course Christmas Day lunch or dinner for £97.50pp. Start with a Potimarron pumpkin velouté with parmesan and sage cheese straws, followed by potted Dorset crab with clementine and fennel salad, melba toast. Then, after a palate cleanser of Taittinger Prestige Brut Rosé sorbet, it’s time for the Roast Norfolk turkey with chestnut stuffing, roasties, honey and thyme glazed carrots, sprouts and bacon wrapped chipolatas. For dessert, enjoy a classic Christmas pudding with brandy and vanilla sauce, before squeezing in a little truffled Tunworth brie with walnut and raisin bread. There’s also a vegetarian menu that swaps in a honey and ricotta stuffed crispy courgette flower for the potted Devon crab, and a wild mushroom, chestnut and thyme wellington for the turkey.

7 Percy & Founders, Fitzrovia
Percy & Founders’s Christmas Day menu offers three courses for £85pp with a glass of NV Billecart-Salmon, Brut Réserve Champagne on arrival. Starters include dressed lobster and prawn, chicken & wild mushroom terrine and Jerusalem artichoke soup with black truffle & mascarpone. For the main course, choose from roast free-range turkey breast and confit leg
pork stuffing with roast trimmings & cranberry compote; roasted stone bass with baby turnip and clam & dill sauce, or a squash & courgette pie with broccoli, tarragon & white wine sauce. Dessert options inlcude a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream & salted caramel and a classic Christmas pudding with brandy custard.

8 Min Jiang, Kensington 
Why not swap the traditional turkey for some exotic Beijing Duck on Christmas Day? Located on the 10th floor of the five-star Royal Garden Hotel, Min Jiang offers authentic Chinese cuisine with a view spectacular view of Kensington Palace Gardens and the city skyline. The restaurant is offering a seven-course festive feast with a mix of traditional and contemporary dishes, such as Lobster Soup, Grilled Lamb Chop with Homemade Coco Sauce, and Steamed King Crab with Black Truffle and XO Sauce Fried Rice, from £95pp. Diners can also pre-order Min Jiang’s legendary Beijing Duck, prepared by chefs from Beijing according to an ancient recipe, cooked in a wood-fired oven and carved at your table (an additional £36 for a half duck, £68 whole). Available on Christmas Day for lunch (12pm-3pm) and dinner 6pm-10.30pm).

Sister restaurants Riding House Café, Rail House Cafe and Village East will be open on Christmas Day from 12noon until 4pm. Priced at £75, all three restaurants are offering Christmas Feast menus including starter options of beetroot arancini, salmon gravadlax and confit duck croquettes, followed by mains like roast turkey with all the trimmings, blackened miso cod or roasted onion squash. For dessert, choose from bread and butter pudding, flourless chocolate cake or a cheeseboard.

10 Town House at The Kensington
Town House at The Kensington is celebrating the festive season with a three-course Christmas Day menu prepared by Executive Chef Steve Gibbs at £95 per person, or £120 when enjoyed with a glass of Perrier-Jouët ‘Belle Epoque’ 2011. The menu features good vegetarian options. To start, enjoy a celeriac winter truffle soup followed by your choice of butternut squash ravioli, Keltic scallop or pressed terrine of foie gras. Cleanse the palate with a mulled wine granita, then choose from a roast Bronze turkey, fillet of Atlantic halibut, roast loin of Scottish venison or Celeriac & leek wellington for the main course. Decadent desserts and mince pies will also be served. Desserts include Christmas pudding, clementine & gingerbread trifle. and a British cheeseboard. Finish off with coffee and mince pies. The menu will be available in two sittings; 12pm-3pm and 5pm-8pm.
