1 £1 Main Courses at Carluccio’s, various locations
From 2-31 January, pay just £1 for a main course from Carluccio’s selection of Italian specials when bought alongside another main dish. Vegetables are front and centre on the autumn/winter menu. January specials include pan-fried seabream with a puttanesca style stew of potatoes, capers, anchovies, olives and tomatoes and tender chicken thighs with a sauce of white wine, blood orange, lemon, thyme and rosemary. No Carluccio’s menu would be complete without pasta with choices such as spaghetti vongole, lobster tagliolini and its signature penne giardinera, from which 50p from every dish sold goes to the Antonio Carluccio Foundation, in support of Action Against Hunger. Carluccio’s offers a gluten-free menu and plenty of dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

Enjoy Vinoteca’s signature marinated grilled bavette steak, served with hand cut chips, homemade horseradish and watercress, plus a glass of Mendoza Malbec ‘Lorca Lorca’ 2017, for just £16. Raymond Blanc’s Brasserie Blanc restaurants and White Brasserie Co pubs are offering 50% off all à la carte main courses to ease us into 2019 gently. Enjoy the likes of creamy mushroom soup with truffle ravioli and toasted sourdough to start, followed by slow-cooked lamb with vegetable fregola and a warm sticky toffee pudding with milk tuile and crème fraiche ice cream to finish. 5 OXO Tower Brasserie’s £30 Winter Dining Menu, South Bank
This January, OXO Tower is offering three courses for £30 in the Brasserie or £39 in the Restaurant, along with a complimentary Paloma or Vanilla Swing cocktail. Highlights from the Brasserie menu include hot cured salmon with pickled golden beetroot, horseradish, celeriac and apple remoulade, chargrilled chicken breast with heritage mashed potatoes, rosemary and garlic confit tomatoes with salse verde, and chocolate and hazelnut mousse with caramelised banana. Highlights from the Restaurant menu include slow-cooked pork belly with Stilton rarebit, crackling, apple sauce and cauliflower purée, sea bass with squid ink linguine, buttered kale, razor clams, in a Champagne sauce, and spiced panna cotta with cranberries. 6 Afternoon Tea for Two for £48 at Ormer Mayfair

Drake & Morgan’s Reef, Beef & Bubbles deal is back, but this time, instead of just the one dish, there’s a whole menu to choose from. Throughout January you can indulge in half a lobster, steak, chips and a glass of prosecco for £19.95 (upgrade to champagne for £23.95) at all Drake & Morgan bars. There’s also a bespoke menu – enjoy your chosen dish and drink from the set menu for just £12.95. Be as good as gold with a light grilled squid, watermelon and bresaola salad or zesty beef and prawn pad thai, or indulge in lobster mac and cheese with roast beef crumble, or a beef and tempura crab burger with chips. A variety of ‘bubbles’ are on offer from beer, prosecco or the Pink Daisy special cocktail to non-alcoholic options.

Three Cheers Pubs, which include The Rosendale in West Dulwich, The Avalon in Clapham South, The Latchmere in Battersea and the newly refurbished Bedford in Balham, are offering 50% off food from 2-31 January 2019. Simply visit the website, sign up to the mailing list and take along the voucher with you when you dine. The menus feature plenty of healthy dishes, including vegan and vegetarian options, as well as burgers and cake if you’re quite happy with your waistline, thank you very much! The offer is available on à la carte menus only from Monday to Friday at lunch and dinner time at most pubs, but do check the website as availability differs slightly at the different venues.
YO! has launched the Make It! menu, offering 40 dishes at £3 each this January. Tuck into the delicious Dragon Roll topped with fresh salmon and the tantalising Beef Tataki Sashimi with a tangy coriander pesto, usually priced at £5. If a month of festivities and lashings of turkey has you craving a detox, head to YO! for an array of plates under 180 kcal, plus, the menu fits with the WeightWatchers Smartpoints plan. Veganuary adopters can choose from 14 vegan plates, including the Inari Taco (golden tofu pockets brimming with rice, avocado, salsa and vegan sriracha mayo) or the crispy Spicy Pepper Cauliflower topped with chilli and spring onions.
