1 £1 Main Courses at Carluccio’s, various locations
From 2 January until 11 February, pay just £1 for a main course from Carluccio’s selection of Italian specials when bought alongside another main dish. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are front and centre on the autumn/winter menu, with dishes such as pan-fried seabass fillets with tomato and white wine salsa served with rosemary & garlic roasted potatoes, cod with braised lentils, kale and pesto, and signature pasta with choices such as penne giardinera, with spinach balls, grated courgette, garlic, chilli and cheese (50p from this dish goes to the Antonio Carluccio Foundation, in support of Action Against Hunger). There are vegan options, too, such as the Veganese, a plant-based escalope in rosemary breadcrumbs.

2 Steak & Sangiovese for £16 at Vinoteca, various locations
Enjoy Vinoteca’s signature marinated grilled bavette steak, marinated for 24 hours in Arbequina extra virgin olive oil, garlic and herbs and served with hand cut chips, homemade horseradish and watercress, complete with a glass of wine, for just £16. The vino is a vegan Sangiovese Rubicone 2018 from Vinvita in Italy, with dark cherry and plum flavours. If meat’s not your thing, for for the vegan ‘bavette’ – succulent marinated portobello mushrooms with the same trimmings and wine pairing for just £14. 3 50% Off Your Main Course at Brasserie Blanc, various locations
Raymond Blanc’s Brasserie Blanc restaurants are offering 50% off all à la carte main courses to ease us into 2020 gently. The menu offers up dishes such as hearty duck leg confit with blackberries, moules frites, Malabar fish curry with toasted coconut, and grilled cauliflower steak with truffle cream. The Harvey Nichols Winter Dining Menu offers two courses and a cocktail for just £19, or three courses and a cocktail for £23. Choose from starters, mains and desserts created using seasonal ingredients sourced locally, such as Chanterelle mushroom soup with spinach and ricotta tortellini, pork belly with red cabbage, carrot purée and apple sauce, and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and passion fruit panna cotta. 5 OXO Tower Brasserie’s £33 Winter Dining Menu, South Bank
This January, OXO Tower is offering a four-course Winter Dining menu for £39 in the Restaurant or a three-course menu for £33 in the Brasserie. Highlights from the Brasserie menu include chicken and chorizo terrine with pickles and toast, breaded pork schnitzel with creamed-mushroom sauce and sauerkraut, and an orange brûlée with rhubarb and petticoat tails. At the restaurant, you can choose from the likes of sage and cranberry polenta with red and white cabbage, black garlic and sumac, cod with fennel, orange and bay leaf compote, or a free range pork chop with roast heritage star anise carrots, parsnip and whole grain mustard puree. As part of the set menu, guests can also choose between two cocktails – a Pink Margarita or Moscow Mule. Available from 7 January until 31 March 2020, Monday to Saturday, 12pm-9pm.

Perfect for you and your broke buddy, you can choose one main course and one drink each, with meat, fish and plant-based dishes available. The January menu includes the likes of sausage & mash with onion gravy, warm chicken salad with aubergine, peppers, onion, pomegranate, coriander and tahini, and crab and crayfish linguini. Drinks-wise, opt for a bottle of Peroni Libera 0.0%, pint of Meantime Easytime Lager or Kozel, a glass of wine, or a Dry Dragon Real Kombucha. Three Cheers Pubs, which include The Rosendale in West Dulwich, The Avalon in Clapham South, The Latchmere in Battersea and the Bedford in Balham, are offering 50% off food from 2-31 January 2020. Simply visit the website, sign up to the mailing list and take along the voucher with you when you dine. The menus feature plenty of healthy dishes, including vegan and vegetarian options, as well as burgers and cake if you’re quite happy with your waistline, thank you very much! The offer is available on à la carte menus only from Monday to Friday at lunch and dinner time at most pubs, but do check the website as availability differs slightly at the different venues.
