13 Restaurants Where Kids Can Eat Free this Summer in London

The summer holidays can be expensive, with a recent survey by comparethemarket.com revealing that London families spend around £748 to keep their kids entertained, which is £206 more than the national average. Thankfully, feeding them when you’re out and about needn’t be super expensive, with plenty of restaurants in London offering Kids Eat Free deals…

1 Hix Restaurants, various locations
Kids eat free all year round at Mark Hix’s London restaurants. Children under 10 can choose a complimentary main course from the kids menu when accompanied by a dining adult between 4-6pm Monday to Friday, and 12-6pm on weekends at HIX Soho, Tramshed and Hixter. Mark Hix has campaigned for better menus for children, meaning you’re onto a good thing here – Hix’s menus offer the best of British seasonal food designed specially for younger diners, such as breaded chicken escalope with a garden salad and Glenarm minute-steak with chips.

2 YO!, various locations
YO! – the fun, fresh Japanese food restaurant with the conveyor-belt sushi – has brought its Kids Eat Free offer back for the summer holidays. From 20 July until 1 September, kids aged 12 and under can enjoy a main, side, edamame and a drink from the Mini Ninja Meal Deal menu (usually worth £6.50) all for absolutely nothing. When dining with a paying adult, children can enjoy dishes such as moreish maki and pumpkin or chicken katsu curry. YO!’s menu also features puzzles, quizzes and colouring activities, as well as delicious desserts for £1.50 extra. Minimum adult spend £10 on dine-in food and drink (for every adult who spends £10, one child eats free). Not valid at Gatwick North, Heathrow T2, Heathrow T3, Selfridges London, London Harvey Nichols, St Pancras and Southbank.

3 Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea
Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea, located at London’s landmark Battersea Power Station development, serves contemporary Indian dishes and bar bites inspired by the dishes found on the Mumbai Jaipur Pink City Express train route. This summer holiday, until 31 August, children under 12 can eat free when dining with a paying adult (get one child’s meal with every adult’s meal ordered from the a la carte menu). Kids can choose from the Junior Menu, which includes a range of gently-spiced dishes including herbed chicken skewer served with steamed rice, and a fish daal of pan fried pollock with veggies and yellow lentils, all followed by homemade ice cream.

4 Rivington Greenwich
Kids under 12 eat free all year round from Monday to Friday at The Rivington in Greenwich, which is just as well, as all those tourist activities at The Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory can add up. The kids menu features dishes for little ones (simple tomato spaghetti, cheddar toast fingers and scones & jam) and big ones (Rivi fish & chips, beef burger & chips, mini schnitzels with garlic mayo & peas, and Heap’s sausages & mash), which can be ordered for free when a paying adult is dining. The offer is restricted to a maximum of two children per paying adult, and doesn’t include drinks).

5 VIVI, Centre Point
VIVI, just one minute from Tottenham Court Road tube station, provides an ambient escape from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street after a spot of shopping with the kids or for pre-theatre dining, and from 22 July until 9 September, kids under the age of 12 can eat for free when dining with a paying adult. There is a dedicated kids menu with a choice of healthy and wholesome favourites such as chicken breast, mashed potato and hispi cabbage, alongside treats such as macaroni cheese, and homemade VIVI wagon wheels.

6 The Dorchester London, Park Lane
The Dorchester London has created a special Children’s Afternoon Tea, inspired by a day out in Hyde Park, for the summer holidays. Throughout August, the colourful high tea features crudité bites – presented to the table as soon as the little guests arrive – alongside a doorman teddy cupcake, a bright yellow duck made of chocolate, jigsaw puzzle sandwiches and a chocolate milkshake. The Afternoon Tea is complimentary for children aged 5-11 years from 1-31 August when accompanied by an adult enjoying the traditional afternoon tea, priced £65 or £75 per adult (one complimentary children’s afternoon tea per adult).

7 Kids Eat for £1 at Carluccio’s, various locations
Italian restaurant Carluccio’s is offering kids’ meals at just £1 throughout the summer holidays. Sure, £1 isn’t free, but it’s not far off! Under 10s can enjoy a main dish, dessert and a soft drink for just £1 with every adult main ordered. The kids’ menu features a choice of classic Italian family favourites including lasagna, ham and pea risotto, and rotelle pasta with choice of pesto, meatballs, tomato or cheese sauce. To finish, choose a refreshing apple and blackcurrant ice lolly or from a selection of sorbets and ice creams. Plus, while the kids are knee deep in a Carluccio’s activity pack, there might even be time for a glass of prosecco for the grown ups… Offer available from 12pm-5pm until 3 September (not valid with any other offer, set menu, Deliveroo or takeaway and not available at Marriott Hotels, Waterloo, St. Pancras, South Kensington, Canary Wharf, Bluewater, Richmond and Heathrow T4 & T5).

8 Wahlburgers, Covent Garden
Newly launched celebrity restaurant Wahlburgers is offering one free meal for every adult main purchased from now until kids return to school on 6 September from Monday-Friday. Owned by Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul, Wahlburgers is not your average burger restaurant. The brothers come from a family of nine children, so Wahlburgers certainly knows how to keep kids fed and happy. Located near Covent Garden piazza, where the kids can enjoy watching street performers juggle, dance and sing, catch a matinee in one of 14 theatres in the area, or enjoy a trip to the London Transport Museum, it’s a great way to save a bundle when entertaining the family in central London.

9 Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, various locations
Nearly all 10 London restaurants owned by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay offer a free two-course meal for kids under 12 when accompanied by a paying adult ordering from the a la carte menu. The children’s menu, inspired by Ramsay’s daughter Tilly, offers the likes of fish and chips, mini margherita pizza and sausage and mash. The offer is valid at Bread Street Kitchen near St Paul’s, Heddon Street Kitchen on Regent Street, York & Albany in Camden, all three maze Grills, London House in Battersea and more.

10 Tom’s Kitchen, Chelsea
Every Saturday and Sunday morning, kids can enjoy a free breakfast at Tom’s Kitchen in Chelsea. Kids up to the age of 10 can eat from the kids menu for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult dining on delights such as Tom’s Kitchen Breakfast, Baked Shakshuka, Crab & Prawn Benedict or French Toast. The offer is valid for a maximum of four children per table from 9.30am-11am at weekends.

11 Barbican Kitchen, Barbican
Feed your mind at the Barbican – home to two art galleries, two theatres, three cinemas, a concert hall and a tropical conservatory – before feeding your belly at the Barbican Kitchen. The family friendly café serves handmade pizzas, sandwiches, hot specials, salads, wraps and Benugo-blend coffee. For every adult ordering a main meal, a child under 12 can eat for free.

12 Belgo, various locations
Belgian-style restaurant Belgo, which has branches in Soho, Holborn, Covent Garden, Bromley and King’s Cross, offers one free kids meal for every paying adult. Just order as usual, and when you ask for the bill, ask your server to scan the QR code on the website here. The offer is available every day from 12pm until Sunday 1 September and is limited to one offer per paying adult ordering from the a la carte menu, and a maximum of three discounted kids meals per table. The kids’ menu includes cheesy pasta, fish goujons and mussels.

13 The Real Greek, various locations
The Greeks are big on food and big on family, so it’s no surprise that they’re big on value. The Real Greek, which has 10 restaurants in London, runs a Family Sundays offer, where under 12s can get a free meal from the kids menu, drink and ice cream for every adult spending £10 or more. The offer is valid on Sundays only when dining in. One free kids meal per adult only.
