Pairing wine with food is a given and pairing craft beers with food is on the up. But now you can pair expertly crafted cocktails with seven courses of delicious, delicate Japanese cuisine at Shochu, Roka Charlotte Street’s sexy subterranean lounge bar
Launching on Monday 18 July 2016, the new Kaiseki Cocktail Pairing Menu at Shochu will take you on a journey through seven courses of delicately balanced tastes and textures. A style of Japanese cuisine that evolved from a traditional multi-course dinner, Kaiseki is typically associated with a series of very small, refined dishes.
Exclusively available at ROKA Charlotte Street’s Shochu, the first ROKA restaurant to launch in London, the Kaiseki Cocktail Pairing Menu begins with a matcha cleanser paired with vegetable pickles, edamame & piri-piri cucumber. The refreshing mint used in the cleanser brings a sweetness which balances out the vinegar used in the pickles, whilst the piri-piri used with cucumber brings a spicy kick – resulting in a balanced combination of sweet, sour and spicy flavours.
You’ll experience Roka’s renowned sashimi and blowtorched wagyu nigiri, served with perfectly matched cocktails, as well as exclusive Robata dishes like Angus rib paired with a camomile flash-infused martini that fights the depth and fattiness of the meat.
The ‘shiizakana’ course follows, which includes hot pot of king crab and wasabi tobiko paired with a smoky Japanese colada – the coconut cream in the sweet colada is smoked in-house, lending a contrast to the richness of king crab hotpot. The tasting journey ends with a seasonal dessert paired with a sour cocktail.
The Kaiseki Cocktail Pairing Menu is £108 per person. Reservations can be made for up to 6 guests from Monday to Sunday at 6.30pm until 9.30pm. To book call 020 7305 5644 or see rokarestaurant.com
