Jimmy’s Secret Garden BBQ Club Pops Up in Clapham

Jimmy Garcia, caterer extraordinaire and ‘prince of pop-ups’, is back with a new BBQ offering, swapping the South Bank for SW4 with Jimmy’s Secret Garden BBQ Club…

Jimmy’s BBQ Club has sold out every year on the South Bank, but with 2020 proving something of a fallow year for all our summer favourites, the ‘baron of BBQs’ has managed to pivot, throwing it back to a more intimate affair in his old stomping ground – south west London.

Since turning his Balham living room into a 25-seater restaurant experience in 2011, Yorkshire-born Jimmy Garcia has become one of the most talked-about names in innovative British cooking, launching seasonal pop-up restaurants all over London.

His new offering brings balmy evenings back to a hidden garden in Clapham Old Town, where Jimmy’s BBQ Club originally began. Kicking off on 23 July, the summer series will offer a seven-course barbecued tasting menu, set in a beautiful garden among beehives, vegetable patches and lanterns.

The menu, priced £65pp and designed for groups of four to six people, features the likes of gin-cured, hot-smoked salmon, Hoisin Duck and rare-breed sirloin steak with roasted bone marrow.

Tables will be socially distanced, but you still get to BBQ on your own Big Green Egg. Plus, it’s BYOB, so you can enjoy your favourite tipples alongside the BBQ extravaganza.

Don’t fancy leaving the house? Get the best of Jimmy’s BBQ Club delivered to your own home by ordering a BBQ Club Box (£50), Ultimate BBQ Box (£80) or Vegetarian Box (£50), with sides such as purple sprouting broccoli in sunflower seed pesto dressing, a selection of rare breed meats and cuts, Lebanese flatbreads and homemade sauces.

Plus, on 30 July, Jimmy and head Chef ‘Ran the Man’ will be hosting a virtual BBQ Club cook along from 7pm. Just order a box and get stuck in. Starting from £55pp.
