This March, Gordon Ramsay’s Union Street Café will transform its industrial basement bar into an authentic Italian Olive Grove
From Thursday 16 March, Londoner’s will be instantly transported to a rustic Italian scene to enjoy a unique and immersive drinking and dining experience at Union Street Café in Southwark.
Union Street Café is inspired by the casual glamour and laid-back luxe of Italy, serving rustic, ingredient-led dishes in an urban warehouse setting. But since an Italian spring might be a little much to ask for on the mean streets of London, the Olive Grove offers the chance to drink and dine under a canopy of olive trees and vines while ‘sunlight’ trickles down through the greenery above, just like an Italian summer’s day, but indoors.
In partnership with Martini, the world’s leading vermouth brand famed as the perfect Italian aperitivo, Union Street Café’s Bar Manager, Davide Gagliazzo, has created an experimental bar menu with different types of olive oil featured in each Martini cocktail.
The menu includes the Olive Sour with Martini Ambrato, olive oil, Bombay Sapphire Gin and egg white; and The Cioccoliato with Bacardi, Martini Dry, olive oil, chocolate liqueur and mint. On arrival, you will be tutored on the different taste profiles of the various olive oils before being directed to specific cocktails that appeal to your taste buds.
The Olive Grove will be open Monday to Saturday evenings, and on Sundays, the Olive Grove cocktail menu will be available in the main restaurant alongside a special Mangia e bevi Sunday menu of sharing dishes true to the nature of a classic Italian dinner.
Throughout the pop-up, bookable interactive masterclasses will also be held in partnership with Martini and a live music line up will soon be announced. Booking recommended.
