If you don’t fancy a couple of hours on a plane to the Costa del Sol this summer, how about a much more COVID-secure trip to Costa del Tottenham?
Taking over several industrial spaces near Tottenham Hale station, the huge beer garden-style hangout is the latest project from award-winning nightclub The Cause. The site, created on the club’s recently expanded outside area, will be split into two areas – the Northside and Southside.
The Southside, an all-weather tropical industrial paradise featuring palm trees and pergolas, soft launched on Thursday 16 July, while the Northside will open at a later date.
Much more than just a beer garden, the Costa del Tottenham will host some of London’s finest underground DJs, as well as live-streamed events and various themed or bottomless feasts, such as UKG Brunch presents UKG BIG BBQ.
There’s also street food, of course, provided by the likes of exciting vegan champions Club Mexicana and burger revolutionaries People’s Burger, and pint-sized cocktails to sup your way through summer.
‘This was never our plan, but being quick to adapt we’ve been fortunate with our space,’ says The Cause co-founder Stuart Glen.
‘The ongoing development has given us lots of empty avenues for expansion around the site letting us get creative with the COVID crisis. We’ve got loads planned over the summer with plenty more in the pipeline which we can’t wait to share with everyone else.’

COVID-secure measures include electromagnetic cleaning (the same technology used by airlines and train operators worldwide, which electrically charges disinfectant to wrap fully around all surfaces, killing 99.9% of viruses and germs), a one-way system, table service and bookable areas so that you can remain within your bubble.
Following this weekend’s soft launch, the Costa del Tottenham Southside will open fully with an official launch party on Friday 24 July. Initially, tables must be booked in advance with a minimum of six people from £10pp including a free cocktail on arrival.
The Cause opened in April 2018 as a temporary dance space to make the most of sites up for redevelopment and also to raise funds for three mental health charities – Mind In Haringey, C.A.L.M and Help Musicians UK – as well as local community garden Grow Tottenham.
Since opening, the club has has raised over £100,000, fought off several closure threats (as it stands, The Cause will remain on site until at least late 2021), and won DJ Mag’s Best of British award for ‘innovation and excellence’ in 2019.
