Can’t fly to the beach this summer? Then let the beach come to you with the latest pop up to hit the South Bank with sand, soca beats and cocktails in coconuts
A slice of Caribbean sunshine and sandy vibes is headed for the South Bank this summer with the reopening of Limin’ Beach Club.
The pop up, which first opened its doors on the South Bank last summer, will offer three outdoor beaches, rum punch, a BBQ and soca beats from 12 April.
Caribbean dishes, fresh off the grill, include the likes of succulent jerk chicken, soft shell crab and roasted vegetable salad, as well as Trinidadian street food dishes such as doubles, aloo pies and pholourie.
Once the full venue opens from 17 May, the extended menu will be available to include dishes such as vibrant beetroot and tamarind salmon, turmeric and coconut grilled prawns, and Portobello mushroom and aubergine marinated in pineapple juices and smoked sea salt.
Cocktails include the signature Mr Rum’s Punch, Rum n’ Coconut served in a coconut, a frozen Piña Colada served in a pineapple, a Limin’ Daiquiri and a Backyard Mezcal Smash, as well as a range of beers and wines.
Champagne and oysters will also be available at the weekends and there will be table service from 17 May, with a range of events planned for the summer, including events for Notting Hill Carnival, International Doubles Day and Jerk & Beyond.
Find the Limin’ Beach Clun at Gabriel’s Wharf, near the Oxo Tower. You can make a reservation online, although a section of the beach club will also always be available exclusively for walk-ins.
The original Limin’ pop up at Old Spitalfields Market was planned to run for three months from late 2018, but garnered such rave reviews on Tripadvisor that it stayed put for 10 months.
