From pop-ups to resident shacks in some of your favourite Young’s pubs to a roaming Airstream vendor, the Burger Shack has finally found a permanent home in Wimbledon, on the site of the former Fire Stables Pub
The new BurgerShack & Bar has a laid-back vibe with bubbles on tap and plenty of burgers. As well as Burger Shack favourites like The Streaky (with Hepburn’s streaky maple bacon) and The Veggie (a crispy beetroot, fennel, lentil & mozzarella burger), The Anglo-American menu boasts lobster and crayfish rolls with avocado, buttermilk fried chicken Caesar salad with treacle bacon and a Reuben sandwich with salt beef, Swiss cheese, pickled cabbage on sourdough with a side of curly fries. Oh, and they do brunch!
If you really want to indulge, try the Dirty Fries, smothered in pulled pork, smashed avocado and sour cream. For vegetarians, or anyone wanting something lighter, the Burger Shack serves a quinoa, avocado, kale, beetroot, watercress and butternut squash salad.
There’s a plethora of tasty sides (house slaw, scorched corn served with smoked chilli butter, watercress, avocado and cucumber salad, cream stuffed jalapenos and Ogleshield mac ‘n’ cheese), as well as desserts like key lime cheesecake, Bramley apple pie or decadent salted chocolate, peanut butter and popcorn.
The BurgerShack & Bar brunch includes roasted grapefruit with star anise sugar and elderflower yogurt; crushed avocado, poached eggs, goat’s cheese and sourdough toast; or waffles with treacle cured bacon, fried egg and maple syrup.
Hard shakes, wines, spirits and craft beers from Meantime, Brixton Brewery and Gypsy Hill Brewing Co are also available.
