15 of the Best Restaurants in London Offering Delivery During Lockdown

Lockdown day twenty-billion and seventeen… it’s time for a better standard of takeaway. London’s restaurants, barred from opening for some six weeks, have done what they can to pivot and re-calibrate, with many – including some Michelin-star restaurants – now offering delivery. Here’s The Resident’s pick of the best…

1 Zuma, Knightsbridge
Zuma Japanese restaurant in Knightsbridge is offering home delivery through Supper, meaning you can enjoy their signature contemporary Japanese dishes at home for the first time. The bespoke delivery service offers an à la carte menu of maki rolls like spicy tuna tataki and prawn tempura, grilled dishes such as beef and chicken robata skewers, spiced lamb chops with hatcho miso tofu, and rib eye steak with wafu sauce and garlic crisps. Zuma is also delivering its Japanese wagyu no sumibiyaki – 160g of pure breed Japanese wagyu A4 with yuzu tahoon and chilli daikon ponzu – as well as marinated black cod and whole roasted lobster, plus a selection of desserts. 2 SUSHISAMBA and Duck & Waffle, the City & Covent Garden
SUSHISAMBA and Duck & Waffle have done the decent thing and teamed up to offer us the best of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine at home. The SUSHISAMBA menu offers small plates of crispy lobster taquitos, tuna ceviche and yellowtail tiradito; main dishes of robata-grilled Kobe rib eye, churrasco Rio Grande, black cod and the famous Samba rolls. The Duck & Waffle menu offers the signature duck and waffle dish with a fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup, as well as a lobster cocktail, as well as a whole roasted corn-fed chicken to serve 2-4 people. 3 Kanishka, Mayfair
Remind your palette of the joys of eating Atul Kochhar’s delicious food – chicken tikka pie, railway goat curry, black dahl, tandoori salmon, or even, spiced chocolate brownie – with the new Kanishka at Home menu. Available for delivery throughout greater London (within the M25) from 8 May Weds-Sun from 12pm-9pm, and delivered by the restaurant’s own private service, you can choose from the à la carte menu or a great value bundle for two people of starters, mains and sides including for £52.50. 4 Benares, Mayfair
There are Indian takeaways, then there’s Benares, which recently kicked off Benares @ Home, delivered via Supper and their own private delivery service that extends to all homes within the M25. Starters include samosa, chaat and steamed dumplings, with classic mains from the tandoor like chicken tikka, lamb seekh kebab, prawn kasundi and curries such as chicken makhani, rogan josh and fish moilee (seabass simmered in coconut and curry leaf sauce). Naans, rice, dessert and champagne, beer and wine are also available. Plus, for every order received, Benares will donate a meal to NHS workers in the local area.

5 Hide, Mayfair
HIDE at Home is the new delivery service from Ollie Dabbous’ critically acclaimed Mayfair restaurant. If you’re looking for a reason to celebrate, be it a birthday, or just surviving another week in lockdown, you can’t beat a Michelin-starred meal delivered to your door. There’s a weekend breakfast menu featuring the likes of Hide Croque Monsieur with black truffle, starters of chicken liver parfait with apple and mead chutney and toasted brioche, or fresh egg pasta with Cornish crab, garlic and parsley, and mains of roast Huntsham farm suckling pig with mango chutney, fennel slaw and black pudding, and wagyu meatloaf with a fried egg and crispy potato cake. 6 Hakkasan, Mayfair
Self-isolate with some authentic Cantonese cuisine from Hakkasan via both Supper and Deliveroo. The Hakkasan at Home menu offers a selection of dishes from the restaurant’s Michelin-starred à la carte menu, as well as its signature set menus. Highlights include a broad selection of dim sum and main course dishes such as stir-fried rib-eye beef with lily bulb in black bean sauce, black truffle roasted duck with tea plant mushroom, roasted silver cod with champagne and honey and a roasted chicken in satay sauce. 7 Yauatcha, Mayfair, Soho & the City
Yauatcha Delivery is available via Supper and Deliveroo, or for collection from your nearest branch. Choose from a selection of dim sum, such as seafood and black truffle dumplings, Crystal jade dumplings and scallop shui mai, alongside a choice of a mains including a crispy duck salad, the classic sweet and sour pork and a Mongolian lamb clay pot. You can also add splash out on the weekend brunch menu for two, featuring a supreme dim sum selection of 14 pieces, a choice of two mains, steamed jasmine rice, seasonal vegetables, Nyetimber classic cuvee (375ml) and a selection of four cakes from the Yauatcha patisserie.

8 Angelina, Dalston
The Michelin-rated Dalston favourite Angelina has launched a new dinner delivery experience with a seven-dish set menu for east London residents. The mouthwatering lineup is modelled to reflect a traditional dining experience at Angelina, which serves an inventive set menu inspired by Japanese and Italian cuisines. The new contactless delivery service is available on Friday nights only, leaving the kitchen free to continue preparing more than 500 meals a day for the vulnerable in the Hackney community the rest of the week. Book a delivery slot via angelina.london (available within a 2.5 mile radius of Angelina costing £34pp, excluding delivery fee). A click-and-collect option is also provided when ordering.

9 Arros QD, Fitzrovia
Arros QD is the flagship London restaurant from Quique Dacosta – recipient of three Michelin stars – is now offering London-wide delivery and collection for its paellas and other classic Spanish dishes. Deliveroo customers can order classic sharing paellas available in personal portions, a selection of classic dishes grilled over wood fire, as well as tapas and bottles of Spanish Cava and Valencian whites and reds (available from 12pm-9pm). Online delivery platform Supper offers a wider selection of Arros QD’s Valencian dishes, from black ink rice paella with Basque cod and cuttlefish to a 40-day aged, grass-fed Cornish Tomahawk steak, as well as a selection of wines (available from 12pm-9pm, delivery within a 2.5 mile radius of Fitzrovia). Arros QD has also launched an online shop delivering DIY paella kits nationwide.

10 Ottolenghi, Notting Hill
The legendary Israeli-English chef/restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi is a champion of Middle Eastern and vegetarian cuisine, so for bright, fresh flavours, order in ‘an Ottolenghi’ from Deliveroo. Highlights from the delivery menu include grilled salmon, seared beef fillet and roasted chicken, all served with a daily changing sauce, as well as buratta with oregano dressing and blood orange, fresh sandwiches and desserts. You can also order bake-at-home meals and bits for the pantry.

11 COYA, Mayfair
Another advocate of the Supper delivery service is COYA, which has now launched COYA en Casa to offer you a taste of Peru at home. The menu features a selection of COYA’s signature starters, main courses and desserts selected by the group’s expert chef team. Dishes include Arroz Nikkei (Chilean sea bass, rice, lime, chilli), Bife Angosto Wagyu (Chilean wagyu sirloin, field mushrooms) and ceviche, as well as desserts like caramel con chocolate. Available via Supper within a 2.5 mile radius of COYA Mayfair.

12 Townsend, Whitechapel
The recently opened Townsend at The Whitechapel Gallery has pivoted to offer a home delivery service. The menu features dishes such as potato dumplings with potted brown shrimp and sea purslane, lamb mince and onions, creamed potatoes with green sauce, roast pheasant with parsnip hash, Cornish leeks and prunes, and roast haunch of venison for two to share. A selection of wines are also available, alongside grocery boxes featuring kitchen staples like fresh eggs, dried pasta and chopped tomatoes, or fruit and veg like potatoes, seasonal greens, onions and apples. 13 Farzi Café, St James’s
Farzi is a modern Indian bistro serving up really delicious, avant-garde Indian cuisine with a twist. The techniques and ingredients might be experimental, but the focus remains on authenticity. Highlights include an exemplary chicken tikka masala, dal chawal arancini, udupi paneer popcorn and wagyu beef boti kebab, as well as Ayurvedic vegan dishes and a healthy selection of wines, sparklers and beers. 14 Jean-Georges at The Connaught, Mayfair
It can be tough to get into Jean-Georges at The Connaught, but if you live in the right postcode, it’s now super easy to get it delivered to your door! French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten fuses classic French cooking with Asian cuisine, meaning you can order everything from cod and chips to wagyu beef fillet and parmesan crusted chicken to monkfish piccata. 15 Caldesi, Marylebone Village
Marylebone Village Italian restaurant Caldesi has reopened for home delivery and takeaway for the first time in its history. The special menu features some of their best-selling restaurant dishes, from their famous Linguine Caldesi to owner Giancarlo Caldesi’s legendary tiramisu. You can also order Italian produce and ingredients from the deli selection, including focaccia bread. Open daily from 11am to 8.30pm, with delivery available within one mile of the restaurant and collection from La Cucina Caldesi, just around the corner from the restaurant.
