5 OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN BALHAM

Five of the most well-loved dining destinations in the charming little patch of south west London that is Balham…

1 Arlo’s
The team behind newcomer Arlo’s is serious about steak, and what better way to spend a date night – or indeed a mate date – than with a prime piece of tender British bavette? It’s situated next to Balham Bowls Club – the perfect spot for a pre-drink under the fairy light-strewn ceiling.

2 Lamberts
At 14 years young, this Balham stalwart is clearly doing something right. It could be the seasonal British food, the smart, modern dining room, or its low-key, intimate atmosphere – or most likely, it’s all three.

3 Milk
Start the day the best way – with a lazy breakfast at Milk, which, judging by its popularity, is probably Balham’s premier brunch spot. The menu offers more than your usual bacon butty (although there’s a fine version available), and the restaurant is licensed – bonus.

4 Gazette
If you can’t make it to Paris, do the next best thing and book a table at Gazette, SW12’s French favourite, where you can show your cherie amour just how serious you are. They are have branches in Battersea and Putney too.

5 Zizou Tagine
For a great dinner with friends, pile into Moroccan restaurant Zizou Tagine and share plates and plates of mezze. Established over a decade ago, it has become one of the best Moroccan restaurants in London.
