5 of the Best Pan-Asian Restaurants in Chelsea & Mayfair

1 Zheng
Zheng on Sydney Street, Chelsea, is the first London restaurant from Executive Chef Izlinda Baharom and General Manager Adam Abdullah, specialising in Malaysian-Chinese cuisine. Malaysian Cuisine is known as a fusion of the best of Asia, and the restaurant capitalises on this with a ‘mix and match’ approach to amazing culinary experiences in cosy surrounds.

2 Dinings
Dinings is more Asian-fusion than pan-Asian, with its blend of traditional Japanese with modern European cuisine, so forgive us, but we do love the restaurant’s unique take on sushi and sashimi. The dishes, which change with the seasons, use the freshest seafood from Cornish day boats. The restaurant takes an izakaya approach to dining, that is, a more relaxed, pub-style way of eating and drinking that has a tapas quality about it. This ain’t no pub grub though. It’s top notch.

3 Nirvana Kitchen
It’s more Marylebone than Mayfair, but we couldn’t resist adding Nirvana Kitchen into this delicious mix. The creation of established chef Ani Arora, the restaurant weaves together the ingredients and cooking styles of the Indian sub-continent, Thailand and the Far East to create a ‘pan-Asian odyssey’. Simplicity is key here, and the flavours and textures of a continent are brought to the fore via fresh, authentic ingredients.

4 OKA
The cosy OKA dishes up
a modern, seasonal take on traditional pan-Asian cuisines and sushi at reasonable prices. Try the likes of the Mongolian rack of lamb, served with garlic infused rice and kimchi, pan-fried seabass with oyster soy, served on rice, or the fantastical sounding Marmite chicken (chicken stir-fried in a Marmite soy reduction with rice and pakchoy).

5 Eight Over Eight
Eight Over Eight is one of London’s most iconic restaurants. Sure, with its rep among the Chelsea set and a fun, sociable approach to dining that includes a DJ, you’re guaranteed a good time, but how does the food fit into all this? It’s Pan-Asian cuisine served with panache. Try the yellow tail sashimi, beef gyoza and the house signature dish of crispy squid.
