Tombo Fitzrovia’s Hello Kitty Cafe Extends Its Run

Did you know that one of Japan’s greatest exports, Hello Kitty, was actually born in London? Well, you do now. Born in London in 1974, Hello Kitty has enjoyed a homecoming of sorts since Tombo Poké & Matcha Bar in Fitzrovia launched a Hello Kitty pop-up store on 1 September 2017.

Tombo Fitzrovia – which opened in July 2017 following the success of Tombo South Kensington and Soho with their top grade sashimi, Japanese-style poké dishes and award-winning matcha tea – will be celebrating one of Sanrio’s most famous characters with Hello Kitty-inspired poké bowls, ice cream sundaes, cupcakes and other desserts, as well as matcha tea featuring exclusive Hello Kitty designs.

You can also pick up a range of Tombo created bespoke Hello Kitty tea, including ceremonial grade matcha tins, matcha latte mix, and new flavour Kukicha green tea infused with the Japanese citrus fruit yuzu.

And there’s merchandise! Think Hello Kitty tote bags, postcards and posters, all featuring special edition Hello Kitty tea ceremony and tea picker artwork.

If you can’t make it down to Fitzrovia, don’t fear! Tombo’s two other outlets in South Kensington and Soho will also be stocking a range of Hello Kitty merchandise and offering a selection of the limited-edition menu items too.

The Hello Kitty-themed pop-up concept store, which was originally due to come to an end on 8 October, has extended its run at Tombo Fitzrovia until 22 October 2017 due to popular demand. And we can tell you, the menu is absolutely delicious…

A trip to the #HelloKittyCafe has made our #HumpDay! #HelloKitty’s smiling little face is everywhere Didn’t want to eat my #poke (but obvs did!). A must for fans of #KittyChan I’ve missed all this #kawaii stuff sooooo much. Take me back to #Tokyo ❤️
