Sunday roast at South Place Chop House

Brunch may have taken over as the weekend highlight for many Londoners, but the humble Sunday roast is fighting back…

As well as OXBO’s bottomless roast, you can now enjoy a new incarnation of the nation’s favourite meal at The Chop House at South Place Hotel in the City, which has added a contemporary twist to its traditional roast menu in the form of free-flowing wine and customisable Bloody Mary’s.

Alongside choices of whole roast chicken with crispy potatoes and bread sauce, succulent sirloin of beef with crispy roasts and Yorkshire pudding, or tender shoulder lamb with balsamic onions and mashed potato, you can now add a build-your-own Bloody Mary, where you choose your vodka, the colour of your tomatoes and your favourite garnish, among other components (£11.50).

Or how about free-flowing wine? For a supplementary £10, you can enjoy bottomless house red or white wine when you choose two courses or more.

All three Sunday roast dishes are served with cauliflower cheese, seasonal vegetables and homemade gravy. Or, if you fancy something different, the menu also features duck cottage pie, mushroom ragout and a selection of starters and desserts.

Butcher HG Walter, based in Barons Court, where the team has been sourcing and selling some of the best meat and game for over 40 years, supplies the restaurant’s meat, so you know you’re in for a good roast.

Served every Sunday 12noon-5pm. Two courses, £25; three courses, £30.
