Marcella, sister restaurant of Artusi in Peckham, took it’s time in reopening after lockdown, making us feel a little nervous. But the pasta aficionados finally reopened on 2 September and we are thrilled! It’s only a little place, so your best bet for getting a table is to book four or five, as there’s very limited space for tables of two. The menu is made up of fresh, simple, authentic dishes from Italy and the Mediterranean, and it really delivers.

2 The Tapas Room
The Tapas Room offers a great selection of tapas, perfect if you’re in the mood for a Spanish style brunch with friends. Each dish on the menu is bursting with flavour that is great alongside a glass of wine.

Dan Doherty of Duck & Waffle fame quietly opened Tila in Deptford at the beginning of January. Tila offers great vegan dishes with wine on tap. It has a small but great menu full of tempting food. The restaurant also offers a great Sunday roast and is known for its great service.

4 Buster Mantis
Buster Mantis serves creative cocktails which tend to revolve around rum, but they also serve local beers from independent beer companies. Their food, like their drinks are focused on Jamaica. They also source most of their ingredients locally

Stockton Bar – Buster Mantis’ little brother – offers a good range of delicious food such as tapas dishes as well as great tasting food for Vegans. They have a good brunch menu which you can have alongside your morning coffee. They also have a good selection of alternative milks to have with your hot drinks. They also serve cocktails.

9 The Full Nelson
This snug little veggie and vegan bar and kitchen has made quite a name for itself since opening a few years back, even winning a Design My Night Award for best veggie/vegan restaurant in south London 2018/2019. They serve veggie/vegan junk food and dirty brunches, like burgers, loaded fries and chicken ‘n’ waffles, as well as boozy iced coffee and cocktails.
