1. Chocolate Afternoon Tea at the Bulgari Hotel, Knightsbridge

It’s chocolate heaven at the Bulgari hotel this October. French delicacies, tarts, madeleines, macarons, and chocolate-chip scones will feature on the afternoon tea menu, but if you’d rather leave feeling virtuous, there’s a healthier option too. A gluten, nut, dairy and refined sugar–free cocoa, ginger and yuzu cake will also be available from the pastry counter. This City restaurant has created a special four-course menu, and chocolate will feature in each dish. Wild roe deer with parsnip puree, poached pear, cranberries and cacao sauce as well as roasted quail with coco nibs are two of the unique savoury options. As for pudding? Just in time for National Chocolate Week, The Savoy has launched its Temptation Wheel – a decadent menu of gourmet chocolate, desserts and cocktails. The hotel’s executive pastry chef, Ludwig Hely, sourced some of the finest and rarest chocolate from around the world to create a selection of 12 chocolates and 12 desserts. With the help of the Beaufort Bar team, each chocolate and dessert combination has also been matched with a blended cocktail. Salted Caramel Verrine – a milk chocolate mousse with caramelized popcorn and salted caramel cremeux – and Chocolate Decadence – a chocolate fondue with seasonal fruit skewers – are two of the highlights. Westbourne Grove store Alexeeva & Jones is hosting a free chocolate-tasting event on 12 October at 6.30pm. As part of ‘The International Battle of the Ganaches,’ the shop will ask participants to rate a selection of artisan chocolates. The winning choc will then be available at 25% off for the rest of the week.
