Notting Hill’s coolest new club and restaurant opening MODE takes an experiential approach to the restaurant scene, changing its theme every six months in a series of ‘chapters’

The Resident:

New Notting Hill restaurant MODE opened its doors last week with a late-night party that went on until the small hours. MODE promises a slightly different take on the average London restaurant; the venue will change its approach every six months in what they are calling ‘new chapters.’

Each MODE chapter, inspired by a specific concept, will showcase creative and contemporary food and drink offering and curated installation, alongside a live music schedule.

The first MODE chapter begins with ‘Future Vintage’, a theme inspired by the industrial revolution set over the ground floor and mezzanine levels. Each menu will be created by Executive Chef Andi Oliver. Signature dishes include Blood orange and vodka cured salmon; Miso glazed pollock cheeks, pak choi chive flowers stacked on a roast cauliflower cream waffle; and the Fillet of spiced chocolate rubbed beef, ginger pickled radish and chocolate horseradish, honey and wild garlic butter. For the end of the meal Andi Oliver has created a bespoke ‘Sweetie Shop’, menu offering delicious treats including Gin & tonic, and Lemon sherbet & vanilla bean cream ice lollies, White chocolate coconut bar and Dark chocolate dipped marshmallow served with Pink Prosecco. According to Andi, their food, ‘draws inspiration from all over the world,

intertwining simple and beautiful ingredients to create a little bit of everyday magic on your plate. At MODE we split the menu equally between single and sharing plates to encourage feasting with friends and family.’ The changing of the ‘chapters’ will also see MODE showcase new art installations. Currently suspended over the heads of diners is MODE’s centrepiece, a six-metre sculpture of a mutant Spitfire by infamous art car artist and sculptor Ruby Soho.

Every Thursday MODE Live, will provide diners with the opportunity to have supper prepared alongside a night of exclusive live world music performances, each night anchored with a headline artist. This will further be complimented by MODE’s resident DJs and live performers.
