You’ve heard of Locanda Locatelli, London’s top Italian restaurant, but now the husband and wife team behind it, Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli, have launched their latest venture, a pizza pop-up called Locadeli. The pop-up, held at Carousel in Marylebone, is a casual restaurant serving pizza all day for the next three weeks.

Wood-fired pizzas along with light antipasti, meats and salads will be washed down with Italian spritzers, wines and craft beers. Small dishes include Parma ham and figs, an Autumn salad and a selection of stuzzichini, followed by a selection of pastas, the likes of spaghettini with clams, garlic and chilli, and chestnut tagliatelle with mixed wild mushrooms, butter and chives.

Formerly patrons of Spiga, one of London’s first wood-fired pizza restaurants, which they opened in Soho in 1998, Giorgio and Plaxy are returning to their more rustic roots to serve up a new take on the much-loved Italian favourite. Their longstanding commitment to seasonal ingredients will inspire bold and flavourful pizza toppings such as the ‘Toscana’ with finocchiona salami and roasted pepper and ‘Seaside’ with swordfish, clams, salmoriglio and prawns.

Giorgio and Plaxy have joined forces with their friends in the art world, renowned artists Damien Hirst, Gary Hume and others who have designed the plates which will be hung up on display at Locadeli. At the end of the three-week run, the plates will be auctioned off for Action Against Hunger, the international charity committed to ending child hunger.

Locadeli is at Carousel, 71 Blandford Street, Marylebone. For reservations please phone or text 07437425621 or email pizzalocadeli@gmail.com
