Perched in an enviable position on the corner of Kew Green in Richmond, this charming local has undergone an extensive refurbishment and has re-opened as The Botanist on Kew Green

Totally transformed, the new-and-improved Botanist on Kew Green is now open for business.

The central section of the historic butchers remains, including original butchery hooks hanging from the entrance hall ceiling. Over the central conservatory bar area the light shines down onto clientele and dried hop vines hang from the rafters.

Oxblood leather seating together with charcoal grey and pastel green walls can be seen throughout, interspersed with statement floral wallpaper and botanical sketches hanging on the walls, mirroring the pub’s leafy location. Slip comfortably into embossed banquettes for a leisurely post work pint, delicious mid-week dinner or weekend lunch with friends.

One side of the pub overlooks the green with its own private outside terrace, while at the back of the pub is a ‘secret garden’ courtyard, Richmond’s best kept secret and the place to catch some rays paired with a G&T on sunny afternoons.

The Botanist features unpretentious pub food with an emphasis on seasonal and fresh ingredients and an unrivalled range of draught beers and cask ales including many craft brewery offerings.

Dishes include monthly changing specials such as pork belly with pearly barley and chorizo and green pea and mint risotto, alongside classic favourite pub dishes including handmade West Country burgers with Taw Valley cheddar, fries and house relish and cider and tarragon battered sustainable hake with skin on chips, crushed peas and tartare sauce. Decadent desserts include‘Sipsmith Sloe Gin Eton Mess (strictly adults only) and a fabulous sharing dessert trio – made up of lemon and lime crumble tart, chocolate brownie and salted caramel tart.

Brunch will now be on offer for lazy Saturday mornings from 10am and Sundays will centre around the good old British Sunday roast with free range Shropshire chicken, Norfolk pork with crackling and 21 Day aged rump of West Country beef.

The Botanist means business when it comes to burgers and every Thursday evening will pave the way for Craft Burger Night. Come along and choose from a range of speciality toppings to have with your beef and bun.

Kids are fully catered for with a complete mini menu featuring classics like sausage and mash and breaded fish fingers with peas. High chairs, swift service and colouring in are all provided.

Competitively priced dining starts at just £11 for two courses and £14 for three courses, Monday to Friday all day.

Beer will remain at the heart of this proud boozer, with a vast range of original and quality varieties available including Meantime and Camden Brewery ales on tap as well as many bottled craft beers such as Hackney Gold, Beavertown 8 Ball and Flying Dog Snake Dog from the US.

Those more fond of the humble grape can choose from a varied list of world wines and will particularly enjoy Friday Wine Night when all listed bins will be offered for 20% off each bottle.
