1 The Orange Tree
Why not try Richmond’s iconic Orange Tree pub for some traditional pub-style festive celebrations – dishes include pork belly and prune terrine; chestnut, spinach and butternut squash roulade as well as venison, turbot, turkey with all the trimmings, mulled apple sorbet and figgy pudding. £23.50 for two courses, £28.95 for three. Four-course Christmas Day menu, £60pp. 

2 The White Horse
The White Horse in Richmond is serving up barn-reared turkeys from Monmouthshire, salmon from the Severn and Wye smokery in Gloucestershire and a Christmas pud not to be missed – made from Black Cab stout brewed at the Fullers brewery in Chiswick.

3 Petersham Nurseries
To really soak up the magic of Christmas it has to be Petersham Nurseries Café, with its twinkly lights and Narnia-esque ambience. This year sees supper clubs and carol singing evenings as well as festive menus using ingredients from their gardens, including a Petersham bellini on arrival, white Alba truffle risotto, braised artichokes, roasted guinea fowl and panettone with clementine sorbet.  £55 per person (Tuesday to Friday).

4 Chez Lindsay

5 Al Borgo
For Italian influence try Al Borgo in Teddington, where for £29 or £34 per person for three courses includes beef carpaccio, king prawns and squid tempura, sea bream with braised artichokes, duck breast with Mirto sauce and sweet potatoes, home-made chestnut tagliatelli with Italian sausage and pumpkin or Prosecco risotto with artichokes and

6 The Depot
Or why not stop off for a luxurious Christmas Day menu at The Depot in Barnes where dinners with a view include gourmet goodies such as red mullet, pigeon breast, lobster and squid tempura, oysters or fois gras. Festive menus for the rest of December cost £26.50 or £32 per person and are equally mouth-watering, with ham hock and leek terrine, calf’s liver, roast Clwydian Vale lamb rack and cote de boeuf all featuring.

7 All Bar One
All Bar One has something for everyone this Christmas. Its new cocktail the Lemon Gingerini made with Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is only £5 from 5pm and is sure to get the party going, while the launch of its new breakfast menu packed with traditional favourites and quirky twists is guaranteed to sort out any delicate heads the morning after.
