1 Le Pont de la Tour 30th Birthday, Shad Thames
Overlooking the River Thames and boasting an impressive view of Tower Bridge, this date-night haunt and French restaurant is throwing a party to mark 30 years since opening. In partnership with Laurent-Perrier, the evening will kick off with a champagne and crustacea reception featuring free-flowing Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Champagne, oysters, scallop tartare, poached lobster and langoustine cocktail. Dinner will be served in the restaurant’s elegant dining room, with live jazz as a soundtrack, and will feature some of the restaurant’s best-loved dishes – crepe parmentier with smoked salmon, beef fillet bordelaise, Dover sole meuniere – curated by Executive Chef Tony Fleming. The anniversary menu will be available alongside the regular a la carte menu October 11-19.

2 Guest Chef Series at Wild by Tart, Belgravia
Following on from the success of their pop-up dinner with Ravneet Gill, Lucy Carr-Ellison and Jemima Jones, Belgravia restaurant Wild by Tart, have launched their Guest Chef Series. The series sees chefs such as Daniel Watkins and Andrew Clarke, Merlin Labron-Johnson, and Skye McAlpine, prepare a set menu that showcases their particular area of expertise. This October, Wahaca co-founder and MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers prepares a four-course meal of Mexican-inspired treats such as charred tomato tortilla soup and Oaxcan style pizzas.

3 Brunch at Wun’s Tea Room and Bars, Soho
Expanding on their offering of Cantonese small plates and cocktails, 1960s Hong Kong style gaff Wun’s Tea Room is now serving brunch on weekends. Based on the dishes of Hong Kong’s Cha Chaan Teng (tea canteens), the menu serves up a fusion of Chinese and European cuisine. This includes the venue’s devilled mackerel egg – hard boiled and filled with a rich whipped mackerel and egg yolk centre and chives, a Sichuan pepper rosti as well as the indulgent sounding Hong Kong style French toast, and the disappearing Cantonese speciality fried milk – deep fried creamy milk custard coated in a crispy batter.

4 Bottomless Paella Brunch at Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch
The east London outpost of this Spanish restaurant is now serving bottomless brunches with unlimited cava, sangria or Estrella Galicia lager every weekend into November. Diners can choose up to two picking dishes each such as Catalan flatbread with tomato and garlic, pardon peppers and rock salt or Iberian ham croquettes. Then choose from either the seasonal vegetarian paella with artichoke asparagus and herb oil, or seafood with prawns, squid and mussels. 5 Kopi Tiam Afternoon Tea at The Orchard Lounge by Pan Pacific
Not that London is short on afternoon teas, but this new addition is definitely one to try. Translating to coffee shop, Kopi Tiam is served across Singapore to people from all walks of life, combining traditional dishes reflecting multicultural Singapore and its diverse cultural history. Accoladed pastry chef Cherish Finden (ex-Langham and Bake Off: The Professional Judge) has created a menu based on her Singaporean childhood featuring chick curry puffs, soy and ginger marinated salmon Bao and a mini dim sum basket to start. This is followed by mango and coconut mousse with coconut shortbread, Malaka chocolate brownies with hazelnut and Bandung bubble tea with light rose and lychee choux.

6 Pink October Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La The Shard, Bermondsey
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Shangri-La The Shard London is turning pink – quite literally – on Friday, October 1 when it casts a pink light from its spire for the first time. There’s also a Pink Afternoon Tea TĪNG Restaurant & Lounge. The tea includes pastries, designed as part of a team effort between by breast cancer patients from Guy’s Cancer and head pastry chef Emma Watts. Running with the pink theme, there’s pink scones with strawberry jam and pink grapefruit curd, as well as a lychee and rose sandwich, as well as a selection of pink boozy and alcohol-free drinks to try. A percentage of the proceeds from each tea goes towards supporting Guy’s Cancer, through the hotel’s charity partner, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity too.

7 The Art of Bond Afternoon Tea at The Milestone Hotel and Residences, Kensington
Celebrating the release (finally!) of latest Bond film No Time to Die, The Milestone Hotel is hosting a Bond inspired afternoon tea. Tuck into smoked Scottish salmon with herb creme fraiche, and chicken mayo with toasted almond sandwiches as well as a selection of French pastries, tartlets and cakes, while you sip on a martini – shaken not stirred.

8 Supperclub Tube, Walthamstow
For a dining experience with a difference, why not dine on an 1967 Victorian Line Tube carriage that has been transformed into a restaurant, complete with linen, silverware and mood music and lighting, while retaining original features. Colombian head chef Beatriz Maldonado Carreño prepares a six-course Latin American-inspired feast, which includes modern and traditional dishes such as sweet corn dumplings with corn salad, hake and prawn ceviche and corn-fed chicken with chimichurri and balsamic glazed plantains. Dietary requirements can be catered for.

9 London Cocktail Week, London-wide
The name is confusing. October is actually London Cocktail Month and as scores of our city’s bars embrace the festival, there just couldn’t be a better excuse to head out into the night and try a new joint or drop by your favourite haunt. There’s a myriad of offers to take advantage of, as well as new concoctions to try, and there’s scores of events too – masterclasses, food pairings, pop ups, and things to do with friends. Wanting to try somewhere new? The festival website has a detailed list of bars to try – narrow your options down by what you’re after; date night bars, bars for singletons, new bars, fancy bars, hidden bars – whatever you want.

10 Learn How to Cook by a Michelin-Starred Chef, at home
Prepare a smashing meal at home while being guided by a Michelin-starred chef who offers step-by-step advice via video. Banquist offers four-week courses as well as individual lessons, and this October you could have Theo Randall (InterContinental) or Atul Kochhar (tamarind, Benares) take you through how to make pasta or Indian fusion. Choose how many people you are cooking for, wait for the hamper to arrive at your door, and then just follow your guide. You can also choose to pair wine to your dishes.

11 Lord’s Dining Club at Lord’s Cricket Ground, St John’s Wood
Lord’s Dining Club is back again for another season featuring three outstanding Michelin-starred chefs in a fine dining experience that marries the love of great food with the love of great cricket. Each chef will prepare four courses and the evening will be hosted in the ground’s Long Room inside the Grade II listed Pavilion, and former England cricketer Angus Fraser will host the evening. The series starts with Lisa Goodwin-Allen, head chef of the Michelin-starred Northcote restaurant, who will bring a fresh take on traditional Lancashire cuisine to the table.
