The advent of spring has inspired a flurry of creative new cocktails. The Resident picks out the most impressive at some of London’s top bars…

1 Artesian at The Langham
The team at Artesian at The Langham has launched an innovative new cocktail menu based on the theme of ‘perception’. They have been working on creating a brand new menu of 20 drinks, which now launched will build on Artesian’s reputation for imagination.

2 The Rivington, Greenwich
Launching at Greenwich’s Tall Ships festival on 13 April, the new Plymouth Gin cocktail menu at Rivington Greenwich is inspired by marine history. Gin drinkers can sip on the likes of the Five Knots, with Plymouth Navy Strength Gin, homemade jasmine and grapefruit sherbet, or go for the fruitier Pennant with apricot brandy. You can also sign up to their gin masterclasses – just make sure you don’t go overboard, or you’ll miss the chance to witness an international fleet set off on their voyage to Canada.

3 The Blind Pig, Soho
Jason Atherton’s flagship bar, The Blind Pig, has launched a new cocktail list inspired by classic children’s literature. The selection of ten playfully titled ‘Long and Short Great British Tails’ will be joined by a further nine cocktails new to the speakeasy bar.

4 Brick & Liquor, Tooting
Tooting’s new cocktail bar Brick & Liquor serves up cleverly crafted classics with a twist. Spring-like choices include the Dill or No Dill with Beefeater gin, sea salt, lemon juice and cucumber and the Clover Club with egg white and homemade raspberry syrup, but we can’t get enough of the decadent Salted Caramel Old Fashioned either.

5 The Hyde at The Royal Park Hotel
The Hyde is an exciting new bar that has launched at The Royal Park Hotel. The bar will offer some of the world’s finest wine and spirits, and the cocktail list is a crossover of traditional classics interspersed with creations off the beaten track. This is sure to be a hot ticket.

5 Beaufort Bar, The Savoy 
Known for its theatrical drinks and dramatic décor, The Savoy’s Beaufort Bar has launched a new cocktail menu that will take the form of a beautifully illustrated tunnel book. Twisting strands from The Savoy’s illustrious history into a fascinating cocktail narrative, the menu takes guests on a tour of the hotel through its legendary tales and extraordinary guests.

6 Scarfes Bar, Rosewood London
Scarfes Bar at Rosewood London has launched a new cocktail menu inspired by the iconic caricatures of cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, whose works are displayed in the opulent bar. Developed by bar manager Martin Siska and head bartender Greg Almeida, the menu is an artwork in itself, inspired by cultural symbols ranging from Monty Python to Margaret Thatcher. The Highgrove with Bombay Sapphire Gin, citrus, chamomile, elderflower and champagne is our particular favourite.

7 Six Storeys Soho
The ‘Chief Booze Engineer’ (yes, that is a real job title) at Six Storeys, Patrick Hobbs, has painstakingly infused Tanqueray with unusual delights from the pantry. There’s pear and sage or lavender and rosemary, and for the more adventurous, there’s also a venison and summer truffle infusion or even a quince and blue cheese concoction. You can try them for yourself with ice or with tonic water – but we prefer the Victorian Remedy, which pairs them with apple, ginger soda and bitters.
