Gunpowder's upcoming food festival is one for seafood and spice lovers...

Come September, Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Gunpowder will host a Goan Food Festival in both its Soho and Tower Bridge restaurants.

Running Sunday, September 4 to Sunday, September 11, the festival will celebrate the diversity of Goan, Konkani, Malvani and Karavali food cultures that make up much of India's coastal cuisines, which, in turn, have been informed by historic Portuguese rule.

Naturally, seafood will be the king of ingredients throughout the festival which Gunpowder will treat with the same provenance-led and seasonal approach it uses for all its dishes. So expect day-boat, line-caught fish sourced daily and prepared with a delicate touch.

Smaller dishes include the likes of Maldon rock oysters topped with frozen hibiscus and cashew nut Arrack granita, raw scallop chaat served with solkadi, and tuna croquettes served with chive moilee and pickled tomato sambal.

Larger plates include a fresh take on the traditional Goan xec xec velvet crab which will be served whole with cockles, along with Cornish mackerel recheado - grilled mackerel dressed in a fiery Goan masala with hot radish.

Meat lovers can enjoy the charred vindaloo pork chop, or tuck into a plate of baby lamb ribs smothered in xacuti which is a complex, rich Goan curry paste.

Alongside the food menu, there's a short selection of cocktails, created to complement the coastal flavours.

These include the kokam martini with homemade mangosteen berry concentrate and the ambotic margarita, which is made from Feni, an indigenous Goan cashew apple liquor and finished with Gunpowder’s secret spice blend.

The Goan Food Festival will take place from Sunday, September 4 to Sunday, September 11 at Gunpowder Soho and Gunpowder Tower Bridge.
