There’s a new artisan bakery in town: French boulangerie Orée arrived on the Fulham Road this month serving up pastries so good it’s worth a detour to pick up your morning croissant
French artisan patisserie and boulangerie Orée has launched its first UK bakery café on the Fulham Road. The windows are brimming with fresh produce, all bread is freshly baked on site and there’s a 38-cover seating area inside.
Do try an almond swirl with fresh roasted coffee or a homemade juice. The French seem to possess the magic touch when it comes to viennoiserie, producing buttery light flakes of perfection with zero sogginess.
Once you’ve also been tempted into filling your breadbin with floury loaves (gluten-free or otherwise) you may as well go the whole hog and try out some of the cakes. You won’t regret it. The chocolate cream-filled éclairs may be gluttonous, but they’re worth every single calorie, while the sweet raspberry tart is filled with ripe fruit, a model vanilla pastry cream and flavoursome flecks of pistachio.
They’re the kind of goodies you’d normally procure via a sunny morning bike ride through a remote cobbled village, along the sunflower fields, past a château and into a French family boulangerie that’s been practising its craft since time began.
With plans to expand in London, Orée is one to watch. Call in, grab a seat and check out the all-day menu of salads and sandwiches, as well as brunch and breakfast treats.
Absolument délicieux!
