Combining a hefty dose of fun with impeccable style, Yinka Ilori has joined forces with Bulgari Hotel to create an afternoon tea that is literally a work of art.

Launching Friday September 16, the tea features sculptural cake stands designed by Ilori, that incorporate stacked and interlocking spheres, which the artists says are "based on the geometry of the sphere and the meeting of different cultures".

Naturally, they also feature Ilori's signature bright and bold usage of colour and geometric patterns.

The London-based artist has also created an artwork for the afternoon tea which will appear as a motif across the hotel, including as a takeover of the building's facade to the print on the linen napkins on your table.

On the cake stand, pastry chef and master chocolatier Gianluca Fusto has created a range of autumnal treats made with Italian flavours and flair.

Sweets include the Pistacchio - choux pastry creation filled with pistachio mousse, nougat and praline - and the Mandorla, which is an orange biscuit with almond cream and orange compote.

Heralding in the start of London Design Week (Sept 17-25), the afternoon tea marks the opening of Ilori's exhibition at the London Design Museum as well as the Italian hotel's 10th year on Knightsbridge.

The afternoon tea is priced from £95 per person and is available Monday to Sunday from 2pm to 5pm, from Friday, September 16.

Bookings are now open and essential.
