A number of London's best restaurants and pubs earned a Michelin star or two at the recent Michelin Guide awards, in recognition they are among some of the best establishments in the UK. 

The ceremony took place last night, Monday, March 27, celebrating the best of British hospitality. 

In addition to earning one, two or three stars, restaurants can also be awarded a Bib Gourmand for serving great quality food for good value, and a Green Star for restaurants pushing sustainable practices.

Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal in the West End and The Ledbury in Notting Hill were among the London restaurants recognised at the awards, gaining two Michelin stars each.

These fine-dining restaurants join the likes of The Clove Club in Shoreditch, Ikoyi, which has recently moved to the Strand, and The Kitchen Table on Charlotte Street as places the Michelin Guide believe are 'worth a detour'. 

Farringdon Italian restaurant Luca, which has ties to The Clove Club joined the one Michelin-star club, along with Cycene in Shoreditch which serves up a creative 10-course tasting menu in a homely, dining room, and St Barts in Smithfield Market, which also plates up a contemporary European tasting menu. 

These three restaurants join a slew of restaurants including seafood restaurants Angler and Cornerstone, both in east London and Chez Bruce in Wandsworth that are deemed to be 'worth a stop'. 

Embassy Gardens izakaya Evernight, neighbourhood West Hampsted restaurant Hām, and Thai restaurant Plaza Khao Gaeng, found in the Arcade Food Hall received Bib Gourmand awards, along with Notting Hill gastropub The Pelican

Mayfair's Apricity by Chantelle Nicholson plates up modern British dishes made with a zero waste approach and ingredients from small British suppliers. 

While no new restaurants earned three Michelin stars, CORE by Clare SmythHélène Darroze at The ConnaughtRestaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea and Mayfair's Sketch retained their trifecta of stars each.
