London's wistful and wild Petersham Nurseries has announced its School of Garden Inspiration - a line-up of botanical, practical workshops designed to get you creating good, beautiful stuff from British nature. 

Held at both Covent Garden and Richmond venues, workshops and masterclasses are designed for both veteran and novice gardeners and cover floristry, gardening and cooking and held on various dates across March, April and May.

At Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, Director of Horticulture Thomas Broom-Hughes leads a series of practical workshops based on horticultural creativity.

This includes the return of the successful Spring Tablescaping Workshop (Mar 14) which focuses on styling out a table with the best spring flowers - tulips, snowdrops and camellia - for a wild and whimsical effect. 

A Spring Containers Workshop will follow (Mar 21) in which participants will create elegant displays in the Nurseries' signature wistfully romantic style using perennials and spring blooms, supplied by British nurseries.

Following this, an Easter Wreath Making Workshop takes place on April 4 (April 8 at Covent Garden) which uses foraged woodland materials, and a Spring Flower Arrangement Workshop (April 18) and a Spring Pickling and Kefir Workshop (April 25). 

This one is co-lead with chef Keri Fuller, and will take participants through different preserving techniques, including jamming, pickling, fermenting, drying and infusing. 

The last of the Richmond-based workshops is on edible flowers (May 23) which is a beginners guide to foraging and growing edible flowers.

Over at Covent Garden, on March 11 and April 22, participants on the Vase Arrangement Workshop learn how to create a Petersham Nurseries-style arrangement for sculptural vases and how to care for the blooms and branches so the display looks good for as long as possible. There's also the Easter Wreath making Workshop on April 8.

Tickets start from £75 per person. Each workshop runs between 2-2.5 hours. and tea, coffee and light refreshments are provided.
