Art Deco Bar Launches Immersive Roaring 20s Cocktail Experience
One of London’s most striking Art Deco bars is bringing back a little Gatsby glamour with a new Roaring 20s immersive experience
The Palm Court at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane has 1920s heritage in abundance, with a stained glass ceiling, purple and gold palette and geometric motifs.
And when the clock strikes 19:20 every Wednesday night this winter, the elegant Art Deco surrounds will transform into a Roaring 20s party for just one magical hour.
The lights will dim, signalling the beginning of the change in era, and a jazz singer will take to the floor, illuminated by a single spotlight, to perform a set list of vintage 20s songs. A pair of mesmerising dancers will perform Charleston routines, adding to The Great Gatsby-esque party atmosphere.
The menu will travel back in time, too. Contemporary cocktails will be replaced with classic drinks reminiscent of the Jazz Age, including a French 75 and the Aviation, served by an expert team of aptly outfitted bar staff.
‘The Palm Court is a real treasure at the heart of the hotel and we’re privileged to have such a wonderful space with original 20s details, so we wanted to celebrate this,’ says Bruno Castro, Bar Manager at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane.
We’re turning back the clocks for an all-singing, all-dancing hour of Roaring 20s glamour
’19:20 at The Palm Court is a chance to remind our guests about the heritage, by truly turning back the clocks for an all-singing, all-dancing hour of Roaring 20s glamour.’
The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane was the hangout of choice for socialites, celebrities and the aristocracy when it opened in 1927, making it the perfect place to relive the age of freedom, frivolity and flappers.
But don’t take too long to get your Gatsby on – the clocks will be set back to the present day at 20:20.
19:20 at The Palm Court launches on 7 November and continues every Wednesday night. To book a table see palmcourtlondon.co.uk
