1 Melt, Notting Hill
Not many chocolate shops nostalgically whisk you away to the seventies, but this neighbourhood boutique in Holland Park and Notting Hill is doing just that for Easter. If you’re after something a little more exciting than the standard Easter egg this month, try the Flower Power egg, or pick yourself a sweet bunny egg warmer for your dippy eggs from British textile designer, Catherine Tough.

2 Alexeeva & Jones, Westbourne Grove
For a real taste of luxury, Alexeeva & Jones, a small chocolate shop in Westbourne Grove, offers up a little gem – quite literally. Set up by husband and wife team Gareth and Natalia, this personal shop allows you to choose exactly what goes inside your Easter egg, from diamonds to a private letter. Fancy a delivery of chocolate every month? Try the Alexeeva & Jones Connoisseur Tasting Club, from £75 for a three-month membership.

3 Rococo, various locations
Acclaimed artisanal chocolatiers Rococo started life in a small way, with the first store hand-painted by the owner, but has grown to now boast four shops, five books, an OBE for its founder Chantal Coady and a chocolate school. For Easter, Rococo is back with inspiration from their popular Artisan Bar range. The stunning designs of Coady have been skillfully hand painted on the eggs, with flavours including sea salt and honeycomb.

4 Hotel Chocolat, various locations
Obviously this family favourite has taken chocolate from a small-town player to the dizzying heights of VIP artisanal, but each and every Hotel Chocolat chocolate is still made with an individual need at heart. When they first started out, 15 years ago, experts told them to make their Easter eggs as thin as possible. So, instead, they made them as thick as possible and crammed them full of goodies. For the little ones, you can even get ‘scrambled eggs’.

5 William Curley, Belgravia
With two award-winning books to their name, William Curley’s delightful chocolates have found their way into Harrods’ food hall. They also have a huge range of classes on offer if you fancy yourself as something of an artisan chocolatier, including how to make their infamous Venezuelan Chocolate Cadeaux.
