Canine lover? If you were ever a fan of Pongo and Perdy and detested Cruella De Vil, then you need to try the Sheraton Grand’s new 101 Dalmatians afternoon tea

Everyone’s favourite childhood film, 101 Dalmatians, celebrates its 55th anniversary in the UK on 25 July 2016, and The Sheraton Grand has conjured up an afternoon tea to celebrate. If you fancy more than an afternoon of treats, the hotel is also offering a dog-friendly package for pampered pooches to enjoy a Mayfair hotel stay with their owners.  The Art Deco hotel is located opposite Green Park on Piccadilly, where much of the film was set.

To commemorate the original characters, the hotel hosted a competition to find the modern day Pongo and Perdy. The two new pups are the mascots of the hotel, which is set to re-launch this October after a multi-million pound refurbishment. The winning Dalmatians, Domino and Lulu, were selected from over 400 entries from Dalmatian owners around the world, who submitted pictures of their pets via Twitter and Instagram. A judging panel made their decisions, and the two dogs received their own Sheraton Grand London Park Lane photo shoot, showcasing the new offers and the hotel’s famous canine film connection.

Prepare to indulge with the Pongo and Perdy-inspired Afternoon Tea. There are delights for both the eyes and the taste buds. Perdy’s paw has been recreated with a delectable lemon mousse and Oreo biscuit, while blueberry cake and violet cream make Pongo’s dog bowl simply irresistible.

The white chocolate cream brownie melts in the mouth, and the spirit of Cruella de Vil is captured in the dotty chocolate sponge and raspberry jelly. Dalmatian inspired savoury treats include a polka dot macaroon made of confit salmon, crème fraiche and dill, as well as smoked trout mousse with English mustard and pickled red onion hotdog. Finally, free range egg mayonnaise and watercress sandwiches and short rib and bone marrow hot pot round up the dishes.

The Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed as part of the Dotty Dalmatian Package which has been created for travels who love to bring their 4-legged companion along. All dogs and their owners relax in one of the refurbished rooms. While owners enjoy the afternoon tea, their furry friend is being walked around the original movie set, across the road in Green Park.

The package is available for stays between 25 July and 31 August 2016, priced from £292 based on two people and one dog sharing a room.
