THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 6-7 EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS) AND THE M62/M57 (LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M62 Motorway, in the Boroughs of Knowsley, Halton, Warrington and St Helen's, in the Counties of Merseyside and Cheshire to enable resurfacing works including, crack sealing, the replacement of road markings and road studs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
(a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M62 Motorway:-
i. the eastbound carriageway, from a point 1800 metres west of Whitefield Lane Bridge, to a point 400 metres east of Jubits Lane Bridge;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 1800 metres east of Jubits Lane Bridge, to a point 400 metres west of Whitefield Lane Bridge.

(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M62 Motorway:-
i. the eastbound carriageway, from a point 500 metres west of Whitefield Lane Bridge, to a point 200 metres east of Jubits Lane Bridge;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 500 metres east of the centreline of Jubits Lane Bridge, to a point 200 metres west of Whitefield Lane Bridge;
iii. the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 6;
iv. the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 7;
v. the M57 southbound to M62 eastbound link road (at M62 Junction 6), from the last point where it leaves the M57 southbound carriageway, to the first point where it joins the M62 eastbound carriageway;
vi. the M62 westbound to M57 northbound link road (at M62 Junction 6), from the last point where it leaves the M62 westbound carriageway, to the first point where it joins the M57 northbound carriageway.

(c) The Order will allow the hardshoulder adjacent to the sections of carriageway described at (b) i-ii above to be used as a running lane.

A 50 miles per hour speed restriction will be imposed on all traffic using the hardshoulder. Restrictions (a) and (c) and prohibitions (b) i-il are expected to be in place overnight between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings), during a period starting on Friday 4 May 2018 and ending on Friday 31 August 2018. Prohibitions (b) iii-vi are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings), during a period starting on Friday 4 May 2018 and ending on Friday 31 August 2018. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversions routes via alternative junctions of the M62 and M57 Motorways and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 3 May 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
