Woolwich Works has announced its free family-friendly programme of arts and culture for summer.

Running now until September 9, the east London arts precinct’s Summer at Woolwich Works programme features a raft of activities suitable for all young and old and offers hands-on opportunities to get stuck into creative fun.

In conjunction with some of the capital’s leading arts organisations, Royal Arsenal Riverside will be buzzing with disco yoga sessions, puppetry, dance classes and improv sessions.

West End Chorus will invite people to come join in on a gospel choir session, and Punchdrunk, the brilliant theatre company behind the mind-bending The Burnt City, will reveal aspects of its unique theatre-making process.

Flabbergast Theatre will host workshops on how to manipulate traditional Japanese banraku puppets, while comedy improv sessions should get you laughing and building your confidence at the same time.

Adults can try out a Cuban dance workshop or a ceilidh, and Luca Silverstrini Protein Dance will host a parents and young children’s dance session.

For those looking to get messy, people can make a giant newspaper and create animations with The Hundred Club, and Taru Arts will help punters make their own carnival props and costumes.

Woolwich Works will also open up its Grade II listed site for tours around the RIBA award-winning renovation, and the centre’s pop-up beach bar will be in full swing for refreshments.

Bringing the seaside vibes to east London, Woolwich Work’s beach bar, Rumpypumpy, comes with sand and deckchairs and serves rum cocktails, mocktails. There is also  pop up food stalls and live music on selected evenings.

While activities are free, tickets can be booked on woolwich.works
