Totally Thames will continue to celebrate the capital's mighty river with five new festival hubs when it returns to London for its 2023 edition.

Popping up across at Brentford, Royal Docks, London Bridge and Southbank, Greenwich and Kingston upon Thames, these hubs will host programmes of river-related, family-friendly events, with one hub taking place each weekend throughout September.

Running from Friday, September 1 to Sunday October 1, each hub will have its own personality and unique celebration of The Thames, featuring photography, art installations, dance, concerts, talks and tours.

For the first weekend (September 2-3) the Creative Mile in Brentford will celebrate this stretch of the river with a key performance from Scirocco Dance Theatre, exploring architecture and how we can learn from the river when planning and designing our city.

For the second weekend (September 9-10), the Royal Docks will host an installation by David Cotterrell – a geyser, created by the artist, that will shoot water 30 metres into the air daily. This will be visible from the IFS Cloud Cable Car, streets, and nearby bars as well as City Hall.

London Bridge and Southbank host the third weekend (September 9-10), and the neighbourhood’s celebration will feature an outdoor performance by XAP where six women tell their stories as they weave a large fishing net on the banks of the Thames. The audience can join in on this one.

Greenwich will explore the history of the Thames with mudlarking events for the fourth weekend (September 23-24) . These events include a take over of Queen’s House and exhibitions.

Kingston Upon Thames wraps up the festival (September 29-October 1) with exhibition Creative Flow: Kingston, Art and the River. The exhibition looks at the borough’s centuries-long association with creativity and the river, including providing inspiration to Turner and the Pre-Raphaelites.
