A festival with village fair vibes is coming to London which will transform Greenwich Peninsula into a bonanza of fun for friends and families. And best of all, it’s free.
Returning for its seventh year, the sprawling Urban Village Fete will set up shop in south-east London for one day come May.
On Sunday, May 14 a programme of free entertainment will kick off at 11am, with live performances, arts and crafts, food, markets, music, workshops and talks.

Line up includes the Black Girl Knit Club’s knit your own jewellery workshop, the Greenwich Peninsula Art Trail where you can glimpse at the Peninsula’s latest acquisition – a Damien Hirst – as well as works by Studio Weave and Allen Jones, and interactive play and performances from The Incredibly Clever Canine Circus (your dog can get involved in this too).
Outrivals gym will host fitness classes and sessions and a designer-maker market will showcase a selection of sustainable fashion, ethical beauty and independent lifestyle brands such as Edy & Bridge, Heza, Scrump and Orris London.
Punters – and last year there were 30,000 of them – can also get free headshot courtesy of Design District resident, The Photography Foundation.
A cocktail bar will mix your drinks, and Yorkshire Burrito, Cakehole, Rendang!, and artisan food producers will keep you well fed.

DJs Bradley Zero, Charity Shop DJ and Land of 1000 will bring the grooves, while Canteen will be open for revellers to keep the party going on its heated indoor terrace.
