SUMMER’S TOP HEALTH TRENDS

Step aside New York City, London is the new wellness capital of the world. From raw food restaurants through to cold-pressed juice bars and innovative fitness regimes, health conscious Londoners are spoilt for choice. With summer holidays around the corner, there is no time like the present to reboot your body, so here is our edit of this month’s latest launches and events on the health and wellness scene

1 Supercharge Your Summer

Supercharge your mind and body this summer with the help of SP&Co. The leading health and fitness company have teamed up with Blakes Hotel to host a series of interactive wellness workshops, covering everything from mindfulness through to bespoke fitness.

Next in the series is the Raw Food Supper Club with demonstrations from SP&Co’s nutritional therapist Eve Kalanik, who just so happens to be a master of delicious raw recipes. Set on the Blakes rooftop, with virtuous juices and cocktails aplenty, this raw masterclass is ideal for health conscious foodies. 16th of July 2014, 5-7PM

Blakes Hotel, 33 Roland Gardens, London SW7 3PF; email talana@blakeshotels.com to reserve a place

2  A Flying Start

Exercise should always be enjoyable, and Flying Fantastic’s aerial fitness classes certainly deliver on the fun factor. Based in Battersea, with weekly classes in Farringdon, the Flying Fantastic group specialise in aerial silks, aerial trapeze and aerial hoop training. Building strength, stamina, and flexibility, the classes are undeniably tough, but you are bound to be too busy twirling to care. Classes are from £18.

3  Ready Set Glö

On the subject of fun fitness, this month sees the arrival of Glöanna, the world’s first yoga run. Embracing happiness through fitness, Glöanna begins with a friendly 5K and rounds off with a group yoga session and a Prosecco brunch party. Already a hit in New York, Glöanna’s London leg takes place on the 19th of July in Battersea Park. The Classic Glö package is £41, but should you choose to make a day of it you can opt for GoldGlö (£130), which includes a luxury massage, a bottle of bubbly and a chauffeur-driven car. Who knew running could be so glamourous?

5 Juice Cleanse with Purifyne

The trend for juice cleansing has grown from something only models and actresses in LA do to a full-blown movement in London and it seems everyone is getting in on the action, there’s no better way to get ready for summer. But rather than wrestle with a juicer at home (it’s not easy being green), opt for Purifyne’s door-to-door delivery. Cold-pressed, organic juices will arrive with enough juice to keep you going for three days, and if you opt for a longer programme, you’ll get deliveries every three days. Along with the juice, you’ll be kitted out with careful instructions, a brush for detoxing, spicy lemonade and vitamin supplements. The courses are designed to totally detox your body and weight loss is an added bonus (I lost 3lbs in three days). The juices taste great, and there’s more interesting flavours than just plain old orange and carrot, for example the Brazil Nut milk  (although if you’re not a fan of parsley and fennel avoid the parsley and fennel juice). As you’d expect from an intensive detox programme, there are side effects, but the age old mantra ‘no pain, no gain’ will always ring true and at the end of the tunnel is a glowing face, less bloated stomach and more energetic you.

Choose from the likes of Bridal Cleanse, Weight Loss Cleanse and Anti-Aging Cleanse with three days from £210.
