Autumn-Winter 2017’s Top 5 Beauty Buys

The Resident’s top 5 beauty products for luminous skin and an easy-breezy approach to beauty during the colder seasons…

1 WunderBrow by Wunder2
Don’t let the wind, rain or a woolly hat mess with your brows. Short of an eyebrow wax and tint (which Kiki Hair & Beauty in Herne Hill does marvellously, should you be in SE London), it’s the best thing you can do for your brows. Previous favourites in this department include Benefit’s Gimme Brow and Shu Uemura’s Hard Formula brow pencil, but WunderBrow knocks them both out of the park with its water-proof gel that combines hair-like fibers and pigments to cling onto both those sparse little brows you have and the skin beneath for bolstered colour and thickness. It can last up to three days if your careful with your cleansing, but you might want to top up, or add studio-brow definition, with the WunderBrow D-Fine. £19.95 from wunder2.co.uk

2 Cool Girl Texturising Spray by Sam McKnight
Laugh in the face of hat hair with Sam McKnight’s Cool Girl Texturising Spray. Dubbed ‘Kate Moss in a can’ by the maestro himself, it delivers supermodel-standard bedhead in an instant – that signature Sam McKnight ‘done, undone’ look. It even smells autumnal, too, like a leafy green garden after the rain with a hint of cedar and juniper wood. Particularly useful for those of us who have sleek, slippery hair that tends to fall flat, just spray through the crown, mid lengths and ends, mess it up, et voila, your floppy mop becomes tousled, textured and effortlessly sexy. £25 at libertylondon.com

3 24K Bio Gold Water by Bio-Essence
Add a touch of gold to your beauty routine with Bio-Essence’s 24K Bio Gold Water. This little bottle of wonder – which also looks great on your dressing table – contains actual flakes of 24K gold that, when absorbed by the skin, reveal active gold ions rich in trace minerals. These promote blood and oxygen circulation, which in turn improves the skin’s metabolism for better skin renewal. It also contains liquorice extract to help stimulate collagen production, plumping up the skin to improve the look of wrinkles and fine lines. Witch hazel also helps regulate moisture and balances sebum production. Pop it on it the morning and layer your usual moisturiser on top to keep the biting winter at bay. £16.99 exclusively from Superdrug online.

4 Black Tea Overnight Mask by Fresh
Winter is awfully drying on the skin – that killer cold-air-central-heating combo will soon wick away any natural moisture your skin generates. So give it an intense, rejuvenating hit of Fresh’s Black Tea Firming Corset Cream. Rich with a delicate scent, it immediately cools and moisturises dry skin, working in sync with the skin’s natural night-time recovery process to lift and firm your skin, leaving it feeling replenished by morning. Black tea, combined with blackberry leaf extract and lychee seed extract, inhibits damaging free radicals and improves skin elasticity, while Belle de Nuit extract helps to soothe and rebalance, and Hyaluronic acid helps attract and maintain moisture. £77 from fresh.com/UK

5 Detox Face Mask by Malin + Goetz
Double down on your face masks for super hydrated skin. While I’ll use Fresh’s Black Tea Overnight Mask nightly, Malin + Goetz’s Detox Face Mask is more of a once-a-weeker for clearer, plumper skin. This one oxygenates to deeply purify and lock moisture, while stabilised vitamin C smoothes, firms and brightens. It also contains soy protein and panthenol to firm, white tea extract and vitamin E for antioxidant protection, and sweet almond oil – which smells divine – hydrates and soothes. Apply a thick layer to skin and wait for five or 10 minutes till it foams on the skin. Wash off or tissue off for optimal hydration. Your skin will instantly look and feel healthier. £32 from malinandgoetz.co.uk
