For a great bar atmosphere as well as great food, Sam’s pre-Christmas menus are filled with festive treats such as celeriac soup with trompette mushrooms and truffle oil, West Mersea rock oysters, turkey and trimmings, venison with cavolo nero and cranberry and pistachio Eton mess. Two courses £28.50 or 3 courses £35.50. Their New Year’s Eve party is also guaranteed to be packed with local revellers enjoying the best of the west with champagne and canapes on arrival followed by a three course dinner, DJ and disco all for £90.

A cheeky Christmas curry is always a winner – and at the award-winning Potli, their special menus include a festive lunchtime special for just £21.50 including pappadoms, three courses and side dishes. Other extravaganza menus include traditional favourites as well as inspirational dishes, with the focus on on-the-bone cooking including whole leg of lamb, whole seabass and whole chicken from just £9.50 per person.

4The Anglesea Arms, South Kensington
Favourite neighbourhood gastropub The Anglesea Arms is back under new management and its seasonal menu features top winter ingredients such as game, truffle and Jerusalem artichokes. Opening for lunch from 15 December, the Christmas menus include dishes such as ballotine of pheasant and stuffing fritter, while puddings feature glazed pears and steamed orange marmalade suet pudding, or a cheese course of stilton with port jelly and walnut bread. Two courses for £24 or three courses for £29.50.

For authentic Scottish dishes this season, look no further than the Dram & Smoke pop up in a warehouse that was once a leather tannery in London Bridge. After the success of their summer pop up in Vauxhall, Edinburgh Natives Paul Ross and Nick Fulton are eager to serve up some of the best Scottish foods and drinks. Guests can enjoy Haggis Bon Bons with smoked Ketchup and Venison Wellington with Bramble and Ale sauces as a part of a five-course meal served family-style at communal tables.
